A mine in Appaloosa’s outback had been doing a normal blast operation when they stumbled onto a peculiar color-changing quartz, which when touched, would trigger an intense twitch and heightened senses, but it wouldn’t be harmful, unless one had sat there with it for relatively prolonged time. The crystal was believed to be a chunk of the crystal heart, that was thought to be destroyed, but it is still unknown. It was harvested for its strange energy properties, used in inventions and devices including weapons, but it was still not fully studied. It seemed to corrupt or drive people to the brink of insanity who were exposed to it without the proper safeguard thus factories added protection, safety gear, special containers, but the employment of tools were often used by individuals known as “Engineers”… Inventors who were creating tools, robots, weapons, armor with the crystals’ power, which had been called the “Crystal Remnant” with its possible connection to the forgotten Crystal Empire. But as more people began to hunt for it, three main groups came out: the Engineers, the Outlanders and the Mages who each recovered it for profit, power and a multitude of other things
