OOC: I actually expect an answer highlighting that she didn’t knew anything of what he was talking about. But I’ll take the Hmmm as that and make the technician catch the hint.

Technician: You don’t know anything about that right?

Rollie: It’s the first time we ever hear about it.

Technician: Don’t suppose you are heavily interested in learning everything?

Technician: Well in short in the relatively distant FTL travel is created but still in its early phase of each ftl ship being a huge investment. That’s the time of the first expedition, who traveled to a distant planet confirmed to host live by observatory.

There after a very successful initial phase to their colony and the completion of the planetary launcher to send resources back home they activated the automated remnant of a lost civilization, the first true battlemech of the universe. With their still primitive equipment they had to face them but thankfully for them many of the installation of that lost civilization were offline but salvageable and that’s how they were able to fight fire with fire and after much struggle they defeated them.

After that the colonists wanted to renegotiate the term of their allegiance to the homeworld, arguing that the difficulty they faced justified it. That’s the time of the second expedition. A full on military one this time to settle the issue. The fight was fierce but they were outmatched by the early colonists recovered battlemechs as they could only bring tanks from the homeworld, great tanks mind you but tanks are weaker in this game. The war went bad for them at first but the second expeditions was lead by a cunning commander and good politican who eventually secured crucial victories after a series of defeat and conquered the launcher. Finally after this the forces of the second expedition made peace with the colonist, and create a second country on the planet and agreed to share the burden of the tribute to the world with their country exporting a bigger share. That a story for people who don’t mind playing tanks and cheaper mech for the trill of being the underdog.

And then we come to the time of the 3rd expedition. For a while the two country finally share the technology of mech, the second expedition one sharing it with the homeworld as well. Then a war in the homeworld end with someone becoming emperor and gaining absolute power. Neither people from the first or second expedition are fine with his rule and broke ties. Though he himself have for goal to centralize a new space empire of many worlds around the homeworld especially now that FTL fleet became a realistic dream. So he plan yet a new invasion that is meant to be supported by massive orbital forces this time. Hence the focus on taking the planetary launcher early as we see in the scene this set is about.

And that’s the heavily summarized story of everything before the content of this scene. What your friend will indirectly play in the canon is the end of the 3rd expedition invasion. When the united force of the first and second expeditions retake the launcher for the 3rd time and used it to send a battlemech in space who fight on the surface of the imperial capital ship and destroy its bridge to make it crash on the north pole ice cap.

OOC: Ahhh, the Amaris Civil War, some of my favorite of Tex’s lore videos for the setting.

Pyrrha: Is there a particular story in mind for this commercial?

Technician: Yeah, the story of the 3rd expedition invasion. They have a promotional plan to sell the figures, terrain tiles pack and rulebook for that campaign. The commercial tell the canon story in which the 3rd expedition is defeated but when people play either side can win.

Technician: Yeah sure. Here on the plain you have the forces of the 3rd expedition, who have a slight technological advantage here because the homeworld had the resources to conduct more research and build greater. They have two minotaur class leading the charge * He point to the two biggest mech on the left side of the rocky desert. * They looks like big humanoid like most battlemech but they honor their class name with their grenade launcher horns.

They also have the medium knights, perfect for close range with their heavy armor and melee only fighting style with their swords, they put all the ammo weight in extra armor that’s their secret. * He show her knight looking mechs forming a line on the flank. * They are the one I’m trying to make jump, in the scene they rush the trench to attack the artillery specialists their enemies.

And then they have their own mobile artillery here. Those pony shaped mech to better spread the weight on that large canon they have. * He continue further on the left near the edge of the set and showed them some battle mech that look like ponies with field guns and launchers on their back. *

And others of course but we were limited. The most interesting of course are with the other side, the local. Through the story they became further and further rare and mythical, the restored antique battlemech of the lost civilization. * He showed them the largest unit on the right, unlike the other looking like equestria this one was shaped like some sort of giant mantis, with its forelegs ending with blade but also having canons opening at the first articulation to combine both potential. * In the lore the original creators of those machine were looking like that themselves.

Technician: Yeah, and all that for toy so I must admit I work with little. Those machines are really good construct despite being made of recycled pieces that got a beating in their first life. Perfect for this kind of no animated effect production where they must take real hits and use missiles filled with pressurized natural gas to create those nice fireballs effect.

Rollie: It’s almost real.

Technical: Oh yeah I’d make them fight real battles if there was a show about that. And if I didn’t mind them getting totaled in case of losing.

OOC: Night.

Pyrrha: Isn’t it, dangerous to use natural gas in such thing?

OOC: Assuming we’re thinking of the same kind of natural gas and that’s not a translation thing happening.

Technician: Yeah of course there’s a risk but there’s no such thing as real pyrotechnic effect that doesn’t involve a little bit of risk handled by professionals. And here the risk are handled by robots it’s even safer.

Technician: What an odd question. But well it depend of the power of that magnetic field of course, but everything here is supposed to be able to withstand good level of that. Why?
