I would only like to say that it can be, but it doesn’t have to be caused by discrimination towards a specific gender. Some people just have preferences about it the same way they have preferences about what characters their partners play. That’s all.

Exactly how can it be a problem? What does the gender a person is behind the computer screen have to do with anything? They’re discriminating if they won’t RP with someone because of their gender. Plus it’s unfair to transgender people.

Background Pony #01C1 here, who just happens to also be transgender by the way. I will say it again. It can be simply a matter of preference and does not have to do anything with being sexist towards anyone. I don’t care how good a man is at pretending to be a woman and the other way around. If someone is looking for a male/female partner specifically it should be respected in my opinion.

Limiting your preferences to only one group of people is how you miss out on both potential friends as well as potential fun RP partners.

Yeeaah, don’t know what this forum turned into for a bit there, but I’m glad it’s resolved. You can play whatever and whoever you want in roleplays and if the other person doesn’t like it, tough. I’ve been RPing for over half a decade and never saw an issue with someone playing an opposite gender, because obviously, it isn’t real life and all roleplayers should know this.
Roleplays exist for people to play a CHARACTER, after all. That’s what the definition of a roleplay is. Being called a “catfisher” for something like this is literally one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard.
