(Cor, give me a detailed description of ezra’s current surroundings in an in character post. Im intending on having some fun. Try to be somewhere conductive to hunting.

On his way down from the mountain range, Horace treks into a large verdant valley filled with undying desert-monsoon overgrowth that draws sustenance from the Colterado river’s headwaters. Given their relative closeness, the valley’s subtropical flora may be not be that far dissimilar to that seen within the Everfrees, minus enchanted vegetation.
 
Keeping to a beaten path cutting through the shaded boscage, Horace keeps his brace of service pistols in mind, aware of rumors that large predators may’ve moved into the area for easier quarry…

nothing so far had decided to mess with him, though it had recently gotten a lot quieter, prompting a nervousness in ezra

The seasoned wunderkind veteran a few years under Old Guard age ascertains the quietness for a large predatory beast having spooked off the smaller attentive fauna, and so draws his pistols out while continuing on forth down the clear path, listening carefully for brushes and cracks in the foliage.

the nervousness was growing, the longer the silence drew on, the worse it would get

Horace clambers up into the branches of a large tree beside the trail, then redraws a single “half-stocked” carbine-like pistol, scrutinously panning over the surrounding thicket and copses.

nothing. Maybe a few smaller creatures silently skittering away. Wait, rocks arent black here. There was a larger black rock off the trail a ways, nothing too spectacular though

By now, Horace flips his sand-dappled overcoat inside out, revealing a second cryptic pattern of treefrog-like patterning originally intended for the day his battlegroup would’ve invaded the Evefrees. Moving further up into the forest canopy, he gradually disappears against the host tree’s bark…

the rock didnt move, as rocks shouldnt. It would be nightfall soon.

With the game now cat and mouse, several weighted vines sway off from the tree in different directions…

he could stay, and watch the rock. Or he could climb away in the darkness. It was ultimately his choice, but the nervousness was getting severe, anxiety, twitching eyes, and a few other symptoms

Horace steels himself to silence; at first contemplating what Cerus had said, then remembering when he’d once mused of defeating Grimm to usurp her, ever since it’d been revealed a non-changeling could lead changelings…

a notion that might get him killed, but still remained slightly feasable. Darkness had fallen now, the rock no longer visible. All he could hear was the nightime creatures now, chittering away. Of course unknown to him the rock had moved, pacing around the trees

Across the valley, snakes, rabbits, and even a unique species of flightless parrot can be heard rustling through groundside bushes surrounding the patrolling boulder, with Horace possibly mimicking any one of those fauna…

if it was a predator, it likely had him already, simply teasing. So far the anxiety was growing more towards panic

Suddenly, a shot rings out across the valley, near one of the areas rustling can be heard.

@Coriolanus  
nothing but wildlife running off in fright, and whatever he thought was out there evidently hadnt left

The forest floor remains motionless for hours,
 
before some nocturnal wildlife eventually begins to audibly pass through the area again…  
 
**Having swung by vine from one tree’s branches into another, Horace remains up within the canopies throughout the night, diligently surveying the surrounding area dimly lit under star/moonlight, while checking occasionally on the boulder to ensure it doesn’t start investigating up into the trees.**
