Writer names

Just something that’s always bugged me: why do people refer to Merriwether Williams by her first name when they refer to every other staff member properly, by their last name?

Because Merriwether is an uncommon name? I mean come on, everyone and their grandmother is named Williams, but Merriwether? Now that’s a memorable name.

Merriwether sounds like a last name anyway.

Not quite. I always see people refer to Tara Strong as Tara and Tabitha St.Germain as Tabitha.
 
Williams is just too masculine a name to refer to a woman I guess? Sometimes it’s just weird. Imagine calling Ashleigh “Ms. Ball”?

I see a lot of full name usage with the exceptions of M.A. Larson and Sibsy.
