Wootton leaves, Miller takes his place

So for S4, Miller is replacing Wootton as co-director with Thiessen. Of course people are already calling this the end of the show, Miller has been there from the beginning.
 
Wonder if the direction will change that much…

Oh, well, if people are calling it the end of the show. Everyone knows bronies use that phrase only in the most dire of situations.

I love how every season is the end of the show.

Because the fandom pretty much declares any moment the show is on (or off) as the end of the show.

Miller said he’s still with DHX, just working on a different project.
 
Won’t stop people from passing around the copypasta where Wootton “quits” because a Hasbro exec sent McCarthy a letter that among other things says “capiche.”

I’m…not sure what to make of this, because to be honest: animation production isn’t something I’m really knowledgeable of.
 
Is the change of co-director (according to McCarthy on twitter) really going to mix things up?
 
I’m genuinely curious as to what this could mean for the show

I don’t even care what fandom says, Miller worked on Ed, Edd, n Eddy and I am totally stoked to see how that affects MLP in the future. Sucks that Wootton is gone but them’s the breaks.

The only thing we can do is wait and see. It’s not like they’re bringing in someone completely uninvolved like they do with writers, Miller’s been a storyboard adviser from day one.

Fair enough. It now remains to be seen if he will be conservative or experimental with the direction of the show.
 
All I (and everyone else whom has been here long enough) know is that there will be drama either way

Exactly when isn’t there drama in this fandom again? Everybody busts a nut over every-goddamn-thing that ever happens.

I remember there was much less butthurt before S2 finale.

I’m starting to think that the higher ups are purposely screwing over there own show just because they enjoy our drama.

This guy worked on EEnE? Well then. FIM is in good hands.

Well that’s just because it didn’t affect a main character. Plus, I’d wager most people who vehemently hated it cannot be moved from their position that Twilight’s ascension could be anything but negative. Personally, the worst thing I think they could do is go back to the status quo.
 
I know there’s a lot of reactionary people in this fandom who would scream with joy if Twilight somehow went back to being a normal pony, but I’d be very worried and honestly disappointed. Like it was something that they couldn’t deal with, and were more worried about negative reactions to it than their own ideas for it.
 
I sincerely hope that Miller is doing a good job making S4. But really the best thing he and the rest of the team could do is ignore unreasonable demands and not be scared into doing things that aren’t their plans by fans who rage endlessly at them. Some people just can’t be satisfied.

While I’m okay with Twilight becoming an alicorn, I still prefer if she had stayed as a unicorn. But I too would be even more disappointed if they turn her back. The only time when she could refuse alicornhood was when she first got her wings.
 
It’s too late to turn back now, at least not without making the show look bad.

I didn’t see Alicorn Twilight yet so i’m not sure if i can argue about it  
but am i the only one that sees Princess Twilight as a depth value and not merchandising?

Alot of season 3 would have become moot, then the complaints about bad writing would come. ugh.
 
I think the best thing to do, which it appears they will be doing, is just move forward with it.

I do too. Personally I don’t buy the whole “Oh Hasbro said they have to do it, blah blah blah.”
 
I don’t jump on that bandwagon till I get some evidence they did command it and proof Megan and the writers had nothing to do with the idea’s conception.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. Though I can understand people’s contention with “princess” thing (a topic that I’ve been meaning to get to), I feel that the alicorn thing is something that is necessary for the show to both move forward, and to move Twilight’s character forward with it. They didn’t have to go the alicorn route, but the route that they did choose is a good one nonetheless IMHO.

Becoming princess is a mark of development, but alicornhood was unnecessary. Personally I still prefer her look as a unicorn, and her inability to fly and need her friends’ help could work in many situations.
 
Watching Twilight learning to fly may be worth it though.

I can see it working it either way. but I have to admit, I kinda have a bias for Twilicorn…so…yeah.
