It’s not G6.
Unpopular opinion time
If G6 doesn’t have a reference to the song “Like A G6”, then what’s the point in even funding it?
@Cosmas-the-Explorer
Oh God please no. Fresh slate.
Oh God please no. Fresh slate.
G1 nostalgia seems fun.
I’m not into the headcanon of Apple Bloom being Applejack’s daughter, thankfully they showed Pear Butter in a flashback in Season 9. Just because Pear Butter and Bright Mac don’t show up in flashbacks does not mean they aren’t Apple Bloom ’s parents. That and Pear Butter helped Cup Cake got her cutie mark, something her future daughter Apple Bloom would do.
From what I’ve seen, that headcanon is mostly an excuse to ship Applejack with Big Macintosh.
@ShadowBolt Platinum
I’m pretty sure that Apple Bloom being Applejack’s daughter thing is a joke.

I hope anyway.
I like both characters, but I think Sunny Starscout is a lot better and relatable as a protagonist
Twilight came across as very privileged, such as being extremely skilled with magic at a young age, going to a gifted school, student of the ruler of the kingdom, having her own personal servant (Spike), and her family overall feels very upper class.
Also how Twilight was set up to be the next ruler and how questionable and “deserved” her alicorn ascension was.
Meanwhile Sunny is more down to earth with no “special” treatment or powers. More working class and has been struggling more in her life compared to Twilight. Also no “chosen one” treatment either, she wanted to unite the races becuase she genuinely wanted them to get along.
It’s why I got really annoyed by the TYT episide revealing that it was “destiny” for Sunny and her friends to get together instead it happening naturally, felt like a giant ass pull that was not needed :/
Also becuase my dad died about a year before G5 started, so i really relate to Sunny with not having a dad :(
@Icicle Niceicle 1517
I agree about Sunny being more relatable. She was an acquired taste for me as a character but I love her now. Nevertheless, I always found the whole “Sunny didn’t deserve her alicorn powers because she only did something to help the world in the movie and Twilight had three seasons of development!” thing…stupid. How much of those three seasons is actually spent “carefully molding” her into being “deserving” of being an alicorn anyway? Her alicorn ascension was never meant to be the product of some major character arc, she becomes an alicorn after fixing something she messed up in the first place for goodness sake. And even though that TYT episode is one of the show’s finest to me, I get how you feel.

Sorry about your dad passing too.
@CloudMistDragon
I think in terms of who “deserved” alicornhood more i do think Sunny “deserves” it more due to her helping to bring unity between the 3 tribes after so long, but I still would have preferred her if she just stayed an earth pony.

Felt like Hasbro just wanted to repeat FIM again by making the MC an alicorn becuase it’s “on brand”, and having an earth pony protag forthe shows run would have been a nice change of pace. The episode revealing that Argyle knew that Sunny would meet those specific ponies for her friend group and would change the world just felt too cheesy/cliched for me and felt really unneeded, again imo it worked better if Sunny just naturally became friends with her friend group instead of “Destiny said so”
And thank you

Meanwhile I was more like “I already think she’s bae you don’t need to keep convincing me” about that.
Also my condolences.
@CloudMistDragon
It needs to be pointed out Twilights arc wasnt just the MMC episode. It started out it seems as early as the Crystal Empire episode. I thought it was implied from that point on that point the writers were trying to form an arc of Twilight proving herself even at the beginning of the 3rd season. And that episode did have her save the Crystal Empire.
I will say the writers should have used more episodes to show Twilight developing though.
In hindsight I do think she was as least being trained to be princess from ever since Celestia took her in.

I like Sunny more than Twilight but I think for opposite reasons.

Sunny at least ANG to me is much less relatable. Sunny has an extraordinary willpower and heroism thats basically like an anime character. No other pony had the same drive that Sunny had. Im not like her but I see her as a hero to strive to be like.
For Twilight she might more high class and pampered but she always felt in spite of her origin to be more ordinary.
She was not particularly ambitious like Sunny not someone who dreamed of a greater future. Most people arent some world changing giants. Most want to just live their lives. And I think that makes her relatable in some ways.

In terms of who deserved alicornhood more, I guess in terms of feats, Sunny’s is worth more. But I think Twilight at least has grounds for being alicorn in how much she saved the world.

Which episode are you talking about?
Which episode are you talking about?
Star(t)scout Code.
The one where the group finds a piece of tapestry showing their destiny and searches for the other pieces.
I dont think the inclusion of destiny lessens the Mane Fives union. It just means its part of a bigger story.
The beauty is not knowing what will happen while it happens but realizing the pieces that led to that moment, like a craftsman fitting the pieces of a clock together.
I also think its always been implied there was some sort of destiny even Sunny wrote that letter
And frankly I think desiny has always been a part of FIM as early as The Cutie Mark episode where all the talents of cutie marks depended on Rainbows rainboom. They had a special connection even before they met as Fluttershy said in that episode.
After all Sunny still chose to go on her quest so its not like she had no free will.
Wrong opinion thread.

I think it is, because not very many people are willing to say it. Therefore, I view it as an unpopular opinion. Besides, I’ve said something like this on the Vent thread before.

I thought Twilight’s ascension to alicornhood was well paced, it just took time and was a culmination of all the friendship lessons she had to learn throughout all the episodes.

I knew about the apparent implication in The Crystal Empire, I wasn’t trying to say there was no buildup to it at all. Regardless, you get what I’m saying.

Yeah, I’m not criticizing Twilight’s ascension to alicornhood, just pointing how dumb the way it gets used as a cudgel is.

There is a lot of things rushed in Season 3.
There is a lot of things rushed in Season 3.
The cmc didnt get their cutie marks by the end. Raritys business didnt expand. Two examples I can think of.
@Icicle Niceicle 1517
At the time, it was thought that FiM would only have three seasons so they rushed Twilight getting wings.

A lot of problems with the show are related to bad planning.
