Assuming in what ways? Obviously not everyone hated it, I know I didn’t either, but I was under the impression that a significant portion of people who did where on this site, compared to places like Youtube, where Flashlight ship videos would get lots of views and positive comments.

Sorry if I’m not making myself clear. I’m talking about heteronormativity and double standards when it comes to shipping. Any and all shipping wars suck and can get ugly quickly. But until veeeery recently lesbian/gay ships are even acknowledged as possibilities in canon, since they they used to be seen as purely fanon in the past. I’m just pointing out that in the year of our lord 2024 it’s still like that for some people.

The dislike towards Flash and by proxy flahslight has been excessive.

I believe the overzealous shipping was to blame.

From what I understand, the reason why he was hated is because he had little personality and was introduced just to give Twilight a love interest. It’s what high school media is built with and they wanted to hit a big cliche box with that. Just don’t shoot the messenger, I want to live thank you very much.

I know you are the messenger, I ain’t interested in shooting messengers. But I think it’s overblown, back in the day the hate art was rampant like the fanfics. You’d think people think you committed a capital sin or something.

And besides I believe people hating cliches was still more like an excuse to justify shipping related issues. Specially because many ships like Pinkie X Discord (chaos) or FluttershyXBig Mac (because an offhand comment of Big Mac being shy) also carry their own cliches, some people back then could often use the “cliche” accusation as an excuse, some other people still do.

Combining and aliasing straight and hetero, unless you didn’t do so because straight could mean literally not a curve but that isn’t clear.

Oh I understand, I just think the way people act has always been ass regardless of the sexuality they’re pushing for.Though I’d say it’s getting worse.

Fandoms being toxic is getting more and more common it seems. VAs getting harrassed for voicing hated characters, like what happened recently in Hazbin Hotel fandom. But I guess it’s due to the state of the internet in general nowadays.

Yes, but as fandoms have become more mainstream, these things happen much more frequently. And those few can sometimes mean hundreds or thousands of people depending of the size of the communities.

Pretty much, but overall not majority. Just a lot, but not “the lot”.

In hindsight, Cozy being a child villian was very entertaining but it does stretch the suspension of disbelief a bit.

Cozy would probably have had to rely on an adult guardian to get what she wanted done.

I enjoyed her, but perhaps she would have been better as not the final but more of one of the more wacky one off villians.

Eh, it depends on one’s own willingness to go along with it. And kids like to see kids you shouldn’t underestimate, I think. (And I think her evil plans show a very childish mix of smart and stupid.)

I think the fact that many fans want to forgive/reform Cozy Glow just because she’s a child speaks to the effectiveness of her villainy. There is an expectation that monstrous individuals look monstrous, but that’s not how reality works. Sociopaths exist and they know how to hide themselves.

She’s possibly one of the most vile antagonists to have appeared in the franchise. The fact she’s just a filly speaks volumes. We don’t even know much about her. They never done any form of backstory for her.

I guess it’s like how people were sympathetic to that “Yandere” who attempted to murder her ex in Japan. Just because they though she was “cute”. It’s also the reason why some serial killers/rapists garner fans for their “good looks”.

Fans of Cozy Glow probably also have a “correction fetish”.

Am I the only one who finds Cozy Glow annoying and not cute?

The way she behaves is so saccarine it actually makes me groan. Not helping matters is the fact her evil plan has a lot of holes, but really, I always found that character a chore to watch. Even characters I personally dislike I can once a while respect their role in the fray, but Cozy to me doesn’t even get that begrudging respect.
