I don’t despise Discord, but I don’t think we need him back in the G5. I can accept an equivalent of what he can do. Since this is a fantasy with talking ponies, I wouldn’t mind a non-pony strange creature who can do random magical spells that can stir the pot.

Honestly I never understood why the female version of angel was called angela the name angel itself is already gender neutral

Mares in the show have weird bodies for Ponies.

Is that a bad thing? Because I think this gave more space to the show for more different and creative designs. I think the overall design of the characters, indlucing the secondaries and extras, have been improved in season 5.

Males I’ve noticed have a wider variety of body types than females.
Maybe ponies were reproducing by magic and then males were a mutation and they forgot how to reproduce by magic and relied on sex.
I’m like half asleep. Forgive me if this is all just nonsense.

Also, the male version of Applejack in most R63 works is called the same and I don’t know why, it’s weird

I don’t think that’s the case. I think it’s more in terms of appealing than a logical reason in the context of the show.

I think the male characters are more diverse than the female characters because the female bodies in the show are meant to be conventionally attractive, leading to haircuts, height and accessories as main differences.

Sometimes there are movies with a whole variety of bodies in female characters (like Zombillenium and the two Incredibles films), but that’s the usual case in terms of character design.

It sounds like a problem, but it isn’t, it’s just a design decision.

I know this is a weird place to ask but…

Is G3 really that bad? I’ve noticed a slight warming up to that gen. Is there some nice value to it even if it’s not on the same level as G4, G5 or even G1?

Probably not. A lot of hate towards past gens are often coming from insecure bronies

I only have watched the first episode of G1. I haven’t watched anything about G2, but G3 and G3.5… Jesus christ, it’s like these videos from Youtube Kids.

That said, I love the line “Rainbow Dash always dresses in style”. Never I thought I’d hear a fashion line about a character that isn’t worried about fashionable dresses. xD

That line has pretty much become a meme in this fandom; especially when it comes to images of G4 Rainbow in (usually girly) clothing.

I actually prefer Ink Rose’s old headcanon that Rainbow (at least as of 2013? I forgot when she posted that video) didn’t actually hate fashion itself just certain aspects like having to wait around and even wanted a 20% cooler dress.

I think it makes sense for Dash to have a certain appreciation for fashion being that she is a show off and if the clothes aplifies her coolness than she would go for it.

Whereas AJ and Twilight have no desires to stand out. So they aren’t as interested.

I guess this became more of a headcanon.

Of course she wouldn’t care for girly fru fru clothes but the cool badass clothes.

They’re the source of G5 hate, too. G4 purists are ridiculous.

I wish Zephyr Breeze were shown at the How The Magic of Friendship Grows song hanging with Fluttershy showing he has a nice job and Fluttershy proud of her little bro with Discord pranking him at the same time.
