Plus the fact she was written without a backstory or motivation for her actions didn’t help things either. So I understand why most fans have mixed reactions to her character.

Friendship is Magic. If she has all the magic, then she has all the friends. She isn’t above horrible crimes to get it. That’s her motivation.

To be frank, even if Cozy is a child, she’s obviously a bad seed that has no desire to “change for the better,” and rather double down on her ways than try to be better. If Starlight gets shit for the timelines, than Cozy deserve similar shit for trying to cripple her race, and more for not only knowing what she doing is wrong, but unlike Starlight, is just interested in trying again rather than trying to be a better person. Her showing no actual regret while in Tartarus is very evident if the type of person she is.

Her motive was to be the most powerful, and friendship was a form of power. She even says to after she loses.

Oh, I have no doubt - I’m still going to give both the characters shit (because they couldn’t know that) and the writers (because they either forgot the characters didn’t know that, or didn’t think they’d care).
