Unpopular opinion time

I was a Luna fan until I realized that I was a fan because she was popular, not because I like her the most.

I like her, but I find her portrayal over the seasons not very consistent.

I think it was the mindset that Celestia couldn’t be in a Luna ep that’s a problem.

The series finale drama on Fimfic was funny, I wish it didn’t have to end.

Not just their major roles - whenever they appeared as guests, Luna was mostly just Celestia’s accessory.

Outside of the two-parters, where they almost always look bad, there’s nothing going on to make one seem better than the other (outside of the lack of a second throne until near the end of the series).

Well as you’ve already noted, most premires and finales. Also Slice of life, Princess Spike, the movie… to be fair, it’s nov so much that Celestia is necessarily dominant, as much as they share vhe “leader of Equestria” role she previously held alone. Heck, sometimes Cadance is squeezed in there to make a whole “other Princesses” package.

Again, two-parters don’t count since they’re both used as the damsel in distress, Slice of Life was them bickering like siblings, Princess Spike is a Spike ep so quality is in the drain, and I never seen the movie. And them sharing that role makes them equal, not one an accessory unless the show shows otherwise, and with the number of ep showing how great Luna is, that isn’t the case.

I expect satisfaction from all episodes, one part or two, and even including Spike.
 
And I’m just saying that between the shared role and her inconsistency over time, Luna can be hard to get a read on.

Egil and I were in the ”villains being unredeemed wasn’t a bad thing” camp.
 
Some of that got heated; I ragequit when it devolved into outright ad hominem ala “you’re a bad person for X”
 
It was something like ”Chrysalis just didn’t get a real chance to be reformed, unlike the others, so unfair,“ etc, the way the debates went.

Ah. I’m in vhe ”I didn’t want them redeemed, but what we got was worse” camp.

The most irredeemable villain was Cozy Glow.
 
Chrysalis is completely beyond redemption. But even she isn’t as irredeemable as Cozy Glow.

Or if his brother gave him a hug. Then they could bond over daddy being a douche.
