Definitely. And the writers clearly have a certain preference of whom to shame their flaws to kingdom come, and who almost completely ignore.
Most of the time, “genius characters” fail at the most simple things either because they have a massive ego to understand the results of their plans or too stubborn about it and the cartoon tries to deconstruct their intelligence.
@Spinny
It’s from the Gameloft game where the message of when you first get Starlight Glimmer got edited where it said Wow! Glimmer and it took off from there.

What WAS the moral of that episode? Whine if you don’t get your way? I’ve never actually thought about it until now, but yeah basically the whole episode is just Rarity whining as a means to achieve a goal XD
@Badumsquish Just because somepony is ladylike doesn’t make her weak. In fact, by using her wits, a seemingly defenseless pony can be the one who outsmarts and outshines them all.
Problem is, using ones wits means doing the smart thing - and I’m really not sure how pissing off the thugs holding you captive counts as smart. (yeah sure, she could probably take them if she needed to, but I don’v think force on her part really fits here.)
@Badumsquish
I think it’s moreso her outsmarting the dogs, using their sensitive hearing against them. I won’t deny that it’s easy to get a less favorable message out of it, though.
@Latecomer
Oh. I guess it shows that at least technically speaking, but damn having her do that by whining is like saying this comic had Twilight “use her wits and tools available to her to defeat a more powerful opponent”. Like, it’s technically true but probably not the best way to teach that moral XD
Not to mention, depicting a “use your wits” lesson in a way that also inadvertently teaches “Hey kids if you’re annoying and whiny enough people will cave in and give you what you want” isn’t the best move either XD
