i point that out though because her “reformation” consisted of “giving her what she wanted” and “removing the negative aspects of her life that gave her the excuse to do such cruel and sadistic things” without actually addressing the sadism or cruelty at all. she didn’t change; she’s simply in a safe environment that caters to her to the point she feels she doesn’t need to do it anymore.
 
it’s like twilight sparkle in that regard. it’s easy to look at her in a safe environment and think “wow she’s so collected and suave and professional,” but the second you push her out of that safe environment and give her an excuse this happens.
 
as things stand the most recent point in the show where her change from the person she was to the person she is now was “tested”, where she was put in a scenario where falling back into her old ways of fucking with someone’s head or body with magic to “fix them” was an option, she dove in head-first with no hesitation. it doesn’t matter if it was consensual or not, she went straight for it like it was her idea and her first choice of what to do. if her simple notion of “monkeying with people’s brains causes problems so you shouldn’t do it” hasn’t changed, what chance is there that her innate cruelty and sadism, an inherent part of her personality like rainbow dash’s ego or pinkie pie’s fun-loving, has changed?

You can’t actually force somebody to do something they don’t want to do with it, if you’re being remotely realistic.
 
But if you want to think doing that with consent is remotely comparable to Lesson Zero, or ELTSD, that’s your opinion.

Malicious intent is the key part of this. As a villain, she was power-hungry and tyrannical. She brainwashed ponies so they’d support her regime without asking any questions, thus giving her more power. In the short you’re referring to, hypnotism was a potential solution she offered, and that Twilight chose. It was on a significantly smaller scale than actual brainwashing, and, above all, was done to help Twilight with her consent. That is in no way sadistic or cruel.

A Trivial Pursuit is a great episode and the biggest reason why people don’t like it is that makes fun of the people being overcompetitive over things that doesn’t really matter

But anyway, moral of the story is, nonconsensually attempting to wear somebody’s will into submission with reeducation techniques = using magical mind control on others without consent = asking someone for their consent with something intended to help them with a problem before doing it.

If this was the universe where Twilight went “Holy shit, Starlight, noooooooooooo! You can’t use hypnosis on ponies!” which was then followed by Starlight strapping her to an magic-proof stretcher and doing it to her anyway, that would be horrible, but there was no such coercion involved, because this isn’t that universe.
 
…I’d almost want to see that scenario animated though

i don’t see a whole lot of difference even if it wasn’t magical. the mind-raping in lesson zero and starlight the hypnotist basically had the exact same effect.

my point is it ultimately shows she hasn’t actually changed at all in-character and that she still really doesn’t realize or care that raping people’s minds is bad. in other words she’d still have no problem sadistically and cruelly hurting others to further a cause of hers if the opportunity arose.

Considering Spike is Twilight’s little brother (he even had a little parallel done with Luna, regarding Sparkle’s Seven), that’s quite possibly getting to three. I wouldn’t be surprised if he got an opportunity to rule alongside her, if not before or during the series finale, then sometime after.

I am still not convinced that Cozy Glow is Actually a pony. She could actually be a Gorgon or a Djinn bound to a Pony body.

their hands are kind of tied with cozy glow. if she’s revealed to not be a pony, then it’ll mean that letting a non-pony student into the friendship school endangered equestria just like alleged villain chancellor neighsay said and that the entire moral of season 8 was moot.

Non-ponies still would have contributed to saving the world in that case, and the moral was about Cozy being a “rotten apple”…
 
But Cozy Glow probably really is just an evil kid that’s also a pony, at this rate.
