I think they should have had more episodes with Discord if they weee going to build him up as a villian in the season finale.

I think it would have helped if we saw more interactions of Discord with Mane Six.

That’s not really possible given the episode formula of MLP. Either we have epilogue or we killed some episodes of season 1 for something like that. We’ve only learned about Nightmare Moon from a story book. We’ve never really seen Chrysalis and the changelings at all before they suddenly pop up either. And we’ve only known about Tirek by some exposition. That’s always how villains work in MLP.

Starlight was not more powerful than Twilight in S5 ending…she merely made a Moldorm situation.

Context: Moldorm is a boss from The Legend Of Zelda A Link To The Past infamous not for being particularly threatening but because his battle arena was made in a way any push towards the border makes you fall below into the past parts of the dungeon, essentially restarting the boss battle whenever you get into the room again and you can’t do much but suck it out the loop since the arena was small and the boss’ only real quality was the brutal knock back he inflicts even if you are the one making the successful attack.

Starlight didn’t need Twilight to lose…she only needed Rainbow Dash to lose to make an annoying loop.

Unpopular opinion: Izzy is written so obnoxiously in TYT that she’s practically the show’s villain. I absolutely cannot stand the way she’s written most of the time.

The last time Izzy did something “villainous” that irked a lot of TYT fans was in Dumpster Diving, Episode 13. We’re getting close to Episode 61 now. If you don’t watch TYT and see the good things Izzy does too…why are you still complaining about Izzy in TYT?

Because I don’t know any better about how she’s portrayed. All I know is that she’s the obnoxious kooky girl that seemingly every cartoon these days has.

I respect the Haber era as much as the Faust and McCarthy eras. The Haber era has many of G4’s worst moments, but it’s ambitious, experimental, and a continuation of the show I want so much content for that I’ll never fully consume it.

Same, although the McCarthy era is my favorite, I still love some of the changes the Haber era brought (especially Starlight Glimmer’s reformation arc and the Young Six)

Unpopular opinions ? Oh yeah i got a few of those. Just saying, it’s just my personnal opinion and i’m fine justyfing it if someone is interested.

1 - Making Daring Doo a real pony instead of an in-universe fiction was a terrible idea and made no sense at all.

2 - Discord is an annoying character who shouldn’t have made it beyond Season 2.

3 - Spike was unironically a really good character during the first season but got flanderized at supersonic speed and became one of the worst by the end of the show.

4 - Lightning Dust deserved way better. She could have been a fantastic rival character.

That one doesn’t seem to be all that unpopular, particularly considering that:

a. When her tornado destroyed the balloon containing Rainbow Dash’s friends, it had entered Wonderbolt airspace without authorization - they effectively placed themselves in danger.

b. Spitfire openly condoned Lightning Dust’s reckless behavior right up until Rainbow explained what was going on, which would already have been obvious if the cadets had been meaningfully supervised during training.

And for what it’s worth, “The Washouts” had her offer Scootaloo what could legitimately have been a quality alternative to the Wonderbolts. Letting her learn that safety rules aren’t all bad could have yielded a lovely lesson in finding something noteworthy to do with one’s life despite a disability.

I get why Lightning Dust got rejected from the Wonderbolts to be honest. But Rainbow Dash not even trying to talk it out with her seemed out of character, i mean, Lightning Dust isn’t even a bad person. She was just acting like a reckless idiot because she didn’t understand the value of friendship and team work and instead focused on trying to impress everybody around. The whole point of the show is to deal with situations like this and here they just never even try.

Fun fact, the original ending was gonna be making Lightning her buddy.

I think Lightning Dust ends up exactly where she should be. She’s doing her thing, and it’s a dumb thing that’ll probably get her or someone else killed before long, but ponies love it and she revels in that. Take away any more of her edge and she’d be a less colourful Rainbow Dash.

Yeah, demoted to wingpony. Which in itself seems more fitting under the circumstances. Although Latecomer has a point in that having her in the Washouts makes for a more interesting rivalry.

That’s a really good point actually, shame they never really did anything with the rivalry thought.

Not really my opinion yet. But it’d be interesting to see if anyone likes G3 better than G4 and G5
