I mainly have the Friends Forever omnibuses, I still think that’s one of the stronger comic lines. I do have some of the trade paperbacks, especially if they have comics I like. When I really like a comic though I actually try to track down the individual issues(like FF#36 and Equestria Girls March Radness)

I liked Sombra’s origin comic…of course they ruined it later…I guess I can pretend it didn’t happen and Sombra’s story can remain a complete tragedy.(I mean the story was a tragedy,not that it was bad.)

Twilight Sparkle in Season 4 still felt like Twilight Sparkle, but by Season 6 she felt like a completely a different character.

I first felt her becoming an alicorn was a decent upgrade. But as time passed on, she began feeling less and less like Twilight Sparkle. She looks like Twilight Sparkle. She behaves like Twilight Sparkle. But at the same time she feels much less like Twilight Sparkle.

If anything, I’d say season 4 Twilight didn’t feel like the same character because she was so damn perfect.

Hmm… how much of that is natural growth and how much new writers not quite getting the character, do you think? Does it happen to anypony else, and if not, why?

I think I’ve mentioned my distaste for that era more than enough.
 
Though it was slightly dodgy writing and oft mocked by the fanbase, making her a neurotic moron with one working braincell from Season 7 onwards at least made her interesting again.

The wings felt superfluous in season four, I can barely remember most of season five, but season six Twilight felt like a natural evolution of her character. It was Twilight, but a slightly wiser and mature Twilight.

Her being awkward and not quite feeling like a real Princess was at least drawn on in the finale. Her still living in the library can in retrospect be seen as a symbol of this, like a too-tight outfit after a growth spurt.

That I agree with. It felt a little strange that ponies outside of Ponyville never acknowledged “Oh my Celestia! You’re an alicorn!” That’s something that’s been a head scratcher for me.

I haven’t checked any episode lists in a long time. Now that I have re-checked them, I realized I was thinking half of Season 7’s episodes were in Season 6 (I thought Celestial Advice was Season 6’s premiere).
 
Season 6 really did feel different compared to the other “alicorn” seasons. I remember when I first saw The Crystalling, I felt like it took place immediately after Season 3.

By season 6 almost all of the old writing team were gone and were replaced with completely new ones, with the oldest writers being from S4 onwards. Only writers from the old team who had credits were Meghan and Polsky, and even then they both only had story credits rather than writing credits

This was one of my problems with her status as princess. Some of them were respectful to her, some literally gave a shit. That pony from Point Of No Return still comes to my mind:
 

 
Twilight is a princess and the first thing this male pony does is screaming at her face, act with annoyance and close the door in front of her face.

I think some of it was accidentally well demonstrated by this animation error: I’ve seen people in reactions who had failed a spot check, and failed to notice this guy was an alicorn, and I remember pointing this out to someone else, even though it was a close-up shot.
 
(It was the most hilarious part of that episode, for me, that mistake)
 
As for the rest, Equestrians aren’t always the smartest types, nor the nicest, and they seem to be rather… ignorant of recent events on average, and there’s demonstrable cases of some of them going “just a legend” even though there’s proof right in front of them (like with the Windigos).

She was totally. On top of being the one who helped both Dash and Fluttershy earn their friendship keys, while not needing to actually make a mistake to earn her own while all the rest of her friends did.

Nah, this is definitely the earliest and most notorious example of someone not giving a fuck about Twilight being a princess:
 

 
IIRC, this led to some speculation that Rarity Takes Manehattan was written for season 3 (and thus Twilight was supposed to still be a unicorn) but it ended up getting pushed back. But then this started becoming a regular occurrence.

Evidence seems to suggest the show’s earlier episodes were actually two separate videos with one chroma-keyed on top of the other. Alicorn construction worker, Erroria, and cyclops Noteworthy are the biggest pieces of evidence to that hypothesis, and even the lack of pegasus and unicorn colts with the colt muzzle until Season 7 might be related.

I do think that the finale was missing that part, yes. It’s one of the key points of my unwritten rewrite of it.

…forgive me for being pedantic, but “Alicorn Construction Worker” was in S8, not the first two seasons, so it couldn’t count as “earlier season.”
