I don't know if it's their character models or if I'm just used to them otherwise, but Celestia and Luna without their accessories looks weird.

The show never addressed how Ponies from places where clothes are common feel about naked ponies

It's why I have a hard time imagining that the ponies have private parts even if Faust said they procreate like mammals

I thought about zercora while making my post but I didn't mention her because I meant being racist towards yaks, changelings, dragons, griffins and so on not just one zebra from unknown land we'll never see and the ponies you mentioned aren't evil, their bad but not evil and zesty isn't even close to being evil or bad.

I'm getting sick to death of how other fanfics are getting shafted for Cupcakes. Fallout Equestria may be technically more popular, but it at least has a fully fleshed out world. Cupcakes is just five minutes of Pinkie Pie slowly killing Rainbow Dash. Why — besides the Project Horizons Effect — is it so maddeningly popular? Yet besides Fo:E the next biggest "worldbuilding" fics are Clocktower Society (which is porn) and Austraeoh (which has less art than some Season 5+ background characters)?

Because like FOE, it became massively popular due being released at times when the fanbase was a its peak, not to say days before Party of One was released, feeding more the popularity of such fic. It was also what msny could consider the first disturbingly grimdark MLP story.

Its was not about worldbuilding or crap like that, it was about the shock value, about disturbing the reader without realizing it. Its was shock horror at its finest, it was a sign that happy colorful ponies can also be used at the most dirtiest, horrorific and grossy way as possible.

@E-123

It's probably no coincidence that Cheerilee's Garden has way more story views than Fallout Equestria, despite having significantly less votes.

Shock value does sell, so to speak.

Austraeoh is one of those fics where I've thought about getting into it because it and its sequels sound interesting, then I notice how long it and its sequels are, and immediately go "Ain't nobody got time for that!". I guess if I had been around when it was started, and it had grabbed my attention enough for me to read it, then I would've liked it (or at least read it). I suppose the same may be true for many other people, hence why Austraeoh hasn't gotten as big as Cupcakes or Fo:E (and having an unusual name doesn't help new readers in finding it).

Clocktower Society actively turns me off with its concept, so I haven't read it either.

Maybe that's because they're often shorter than the big fics, so people can read them easily, while the longer ones are more likely to turn them off.

@SD50-2
Apparently "Austraeoh" means "east horse"in Old Norse.

@Wiimeiser
It's old enough (and simple enough a concept) that it's become part of fandom myth. Conversely, stuff from those other fics will only be meaningful to people who've read them. And as time passes and the number of fics grows while the active fandom shrinks…

Since it looks like all the lore that's ever going to be fleshed out has been explored, what do we wish they had done that they didn't? For me, it's Nightmare Moon. Why Luna became Nightmare Moon is only touched on once or twice in the show, and always in vague terms about jealousy or feeling unappreciated. I approve of ambiguous storytelling, but as is we really do not know enough about what exactly influenced Luna and what role Celestia had in her ultimate turn to evil. It's a fascinating piece of lore I wish they had delved into in an episode, mainly because it's such an important part of Luna's character development.

@GenericArchangel
Isn't it better for some things to be left to the imagination? There's a limit to what the show can actually show as opposed to what it can imply, and crossing over that limit results in what I call the Griffonstone Effect — where the vast potential fans had seen turns out to be something pretty small.

It continues to amaze me that people still think that his birth parents matter after Father Knows Beast. (Though admittedly, they should already know where the egg was found at least.)
AC97

@Latecomer

They didn't even raise him.

A family of unicorns did, and are the ones that deserve to be called his family.

Why does the importance of his birth parents matter, but the former doesn't? They could've literally dumped his egg on Celestia's doorstep for whatever reason and abandoned it there.
