The next generation

Since somebody made a topic about the end of the series, I thought I’d make a topic about what people would want to see next in MLP. Should the next generation of pony literally star the next generation of ponies? Should it take place in the distant future? Should it take place in a new city?
 
Personally, I wouldn’t mind if a full grown dragon and a crystal pony at least became part of the supporting cast, and more of the mythological diverse populace are at least in the background (rather than just background ponies).

Well, with a fourth season, G4 has essentially become the comparison to which all further incarnations will be judged. I have a feeling that they will try something similar, but with a different art style.

I assume the show will never be as good as the first two seasons of this gen.

Alternate Universe.

I think most people want a G4.5 of some sort, and I think that’s what we’ll get if the execs are paying any attention to us.

Someone made an interesting point about this, actually. In the first two seasons of the show, they were being fairly hush-hush about what was going to happen, and then in the most recent season, they were pretty loose about what was about to happen and gave us leeway to speculate and overall get pretty disappointed.

I actually like the sound that idea. But, they could have a mini-canon where they spotlight other characters in a “Meanwhile” type of show, just like what Pokemon Chronicles was.

Theres a possibility that no one will make another generation.  
But I highly doubt that.  
They’ll run out of ideas sooner or later.

If There Where G5 Then I Don’t Wanna Know…

With the success of G4, I highly doubt Hasbro would want to reboot the series again. Not yet at least.

I’m a wild optimist, so I think G4.5 will happen when Hasbro makes so many terrible executive meddling-y decisions that viewership tanks, and they come crawling back to Faust with a “Let’s try this again.” look I’m their face.
