Sorry, no so such luck, since it will be a excerpt of my own fanfic… Which involves G4 and is a crossover.
 
Speaking of that, more than just a excerpt, is a sneak peek of of my fanfic’s next chapter, as a special gift for all G1 fans. So, without further adieu, here it is:
 
Octavia rolled her eyes, grabbed the mare from the trenchcoat’s laps, put her snout on the anonymous mare’s, and punctuated each word by pressing every time more. “Then by all means, let me repeat it: What. The. Hay. Is. Going. On. Here!?”
But before the mare with the fedora could reply, a light cornflower blue earth pony mare stepped up. She regarded Octavia and Sunny with a neutral expression, then said to the mare with the trenchcoat, “So Bon Bon, are these the latest recruits?”
The mentioned pony pushed Octavia aside and replied, “Yes Grandmaster Shoeshine.”
“Good,” the Grandmaster replied and turned around. “Let’s continue on with the meeting.”
“Sure Grandmaster,” replied a bespectacled mint green pony with orange mane.
“Proceed with the roll call, Bright Eyes,” Shoeshine ordered to the mentioned pony.
Bright Eyes grabbed a sheet of paper and read the first name in it, “Clover Bloom.”
There was a crashing sound, the crack of wood breaking, the screeching of a random cat and Wilhelm screamed.
Then, from the remains of a destroyed bench, a gray-purple foreleg came out and a pained female voice replied, “Here…”
Bright Eyes sighed and continued, “Patch.”
The only response she got was a very loud snore.
The orange maned earth pony rolled her eyes and yelled, “PATCH!”
Th pink maned earth pony jumped out of sleep and replied, “I’m awake!”
The bespectacled mare rolled her eyes once more. “Bon Bon.”
The mentioned mare dropped her disguise aside and said, “Here!”
Once that was done, and as the Grandmaster started rambling over something from a book on her podium, Bon Bon grabbed Octavia by her bowtie and growled at her, “I was planning to tell you from the beginning!”

Oh well, I guess it was a tall order. Almost all of the fanfiction out there involving G1 characters also crosses over into G4 and takes place in Equestria instead of Ponyland. Many people love the G1 characters, but G1 storytelling has an altogether different style compared to G4, which must seem quite dated by today’s standard.
 
When you do finally publish your story, let me know and I will check it out.

I have to imagine that Firefly is the most popular G1 character today. I see more fanart of her than any other G1 character I can think of offhand.

What made W.W. so interesting is how she always used big words but was never talking random crap.  
One of my fave examples, talking about wish-granting gold coins:  
‘It is obvious that the metaphysical power of these coins can have unforeseen and hazardous side-effects.’
 
Everything she says is consistent and logical, and I feel like that really gave the show more depth.

Yes! Wind Whistler is the antithesis to the idea that many critics of the era shared in that G1 ponies were all childlike simpletons that had no depth of character. She was brilliant, and not shy about expressing her thoughts, even if she sometimes took some flak for it. At the same time, she wasn’t condescending, and was appreciative of her friends. She also demonstrated solid emotional balance in the face of adversity. Above all, she showed that it was okay to be an individual, whether that meant as a profound thinker, or just somepony who prefers to keep things simple.

Well, the fic itself is already published, that bit is from Chapter 3, which is in writing process.
 
Sadly the ponies from Ponyland won’t be making an appearance…
