I remember them saying that her dad wasn't supposed to be there and was just a rando BG pony, but they decided to recolor him to make them related. I also remember them being adamant that he wasn't actually her dad and then Bow had came out and it's really obvious they're the same guy as much as they try to deny it. They just took the time to actually make him stand out
