They’re really going all out there.
Man, I can really see her struggles.
Slightly sarcastic. Obviously they will do more than that.

I’m actually kinda bothered by that “Twilight can’t fly”-thing.
The sad thing is that MLP is as consistent as rubbing alcohol.
It does whatever the hell it wants, just to make another nice little episode and throws previous establishments into the wind.
Remember when Luna got redesigned? Remmber when the Cup Cake got pregnant and had foals off camera? Remember when Cadance and Shining Armor popped up right the hell outta nowhere?
Whilst I like the episodes themselves, the show is merely a B-grade for me. If the tied these loose plot threads together more neatly, it could be so much more.

“All we ever want is indecision, all we really like is what we know.”
The ending of MMC was ambiguous. I’m honestly expecting the S4 premiere to open with her crashing into a tree right after saying the last line of the previous episode.
In any case, the amount of “consistency” you would get from her being able to fly pales in comparison to the stories you can tell. Why let a good episode idea or two get canned?

I understand where you’re coming from, but we have to remember that FiM isn’t that kind of show. I too wish that it would be more flowing (which is why I hold both season 1 and season 3 in high regard). We had enough faffing about with season 2, thus it’s time to take the show somewhere IMHO.

You all do realize we have no idea how long it took to set up the coronation, right? The part with her flying at the end could have been a month after getting her wings.
Hell, even a five second flashback is enough to explain that clip. Which came from a hot topic promo, need I remind you.

this, we don’t know how long it has been, although Celestia knew it was going to happen, she really couldn’t go about getting the coronation set up until it happened

I too have noticed many inconsistencies. I think it has to do with having multiple writers as well as working on several episodes at once. All of the writers seem to have their own ideas about the characters’ personalities. There are also different storyboarders as well who like the writers have different ideas for the characters. I know eack ep is supposed to be approved by Jayson but maybe they are so swamped with work that he lets these inconsistencies slide. cough Spitfire cough

Seriously? She was playing a drill sergeant. Even the VA said she realized that Spitfire was acting tough.

I watched it
I liked it
Maybe I am a too-simplistic person? ¯(°_o)/¯
As for what S4 departs, I think it should (and probably will) deal with Twilight getting used to her new “power level”, which shall be at the very least hilarious to watch (if not interesting in terms of plot and all)
As for the show itself, I agree strongly with Ebalosus’s comment, I would love the show to go further in so many aspects, but we all know it is not that kind of show (but still awesome anyway).

Whether she was playing one or not, and given a few scenes that showed her away from the cadets it doesn’t seem like it, no one said she HAD to act like that. That’s why I refer to writing inconsistencies. The drill sergeant thing is a common trope, remember when Dash used it in Best Pet when she was informing the candidate animals of the contests? It seems to be a standard personality when trying to show someone’s position of authority and I just throw that up to the writer’s preference to use that particular personality. I would think that MW thought it would be a fitting personality considering the military-like environment (which is another writer preference which I would think was caused by making the episode a Top Gun reference, which yet again is writer preference).
In short, no said the episode had to be like that except Merriwether Williams.

Your kidding me here, right?
The whole drill sergeant thing isn’t her “personality”, it’s her job. There’s a huge freakin difference here.
She doesn’t choose how she act to recruits. She’s not having conversations with them. That was DRILL. That’s how it works. What, you think drill instructors act like that just because they’re jerks? Every group, military or otherwise, that’s trying to push recruits to their limits dose this.

I’ve seen tons of people who just don’t seem to understand something about that episode. However we saw Spitfire act before, and how she acted with Dash, doesn’t matter at all.
The best young fliers competition, the gala, tornado day, all different. When the two of them were on that base it wasn’t Dash and Spitfire, it was recruit and commanding officer.
There’s no familiarity, there’s no favoritism. It’s her job to be impartial and a hard ass bitch. For her to do ANYTHING LESS would have been grossly unprofessional.
This depiction of military training and the like isn’t some kind of choice the writers make just for flair.

They were. The only scene that is possibly from S4 is the part where Twilight tried to fly and fell back down. The rest were just edit by hottopic.

Celestia, introducing Princess Twilight: But today, Twilight Sparkle did something extraordinary. She created new magic.
Still enough time for a quick crash course (pun intended) from RD or Fluttershy, I guess, but nothing fancy.

I’ll be taking any staff statements, “previews”, or otherwise with a grain of salt until S4 is reasonably close.
