Why are people in this fandom against the term “Love and Tolerate”? It’s a positive term!

I feel that people being against the term only makes the fandom more toxic and less peaceful

There’s a few reasons.

There’s the ones who simply pointed out the term was probably coined by people on the internet since the cartoon itself never really uttered the phrase and the show itself is more of the “friendship helps to overcome challenges and makes you feel good”. The love and tolerance was probably more a case of people not wanting to be judged for watching a “little girl’s cartoon”. A bit glurgy but admittedly can’t blame them since people are utter trash whenever they get the chance to demean others.

Of course then you have the others who merely take it as an excuse to be a jerk.

I thought some people say it in a more serious way but whatever; like I said in my previous comment, having a motto or a term for this fan group is silly!

Exactly, it’s actually less “love” or “tolerance” and more like “nothing but violence”. It was a way the fandom called back to outsiders for how they treated it. At least I interpreted it that way.

Because is either glurge…or a euphemism for something more violent.

“Love and Tolerance” was coined by 4chan to thumb their noses and declare themselves holier-than-thou. It was never about any call to kindness or to turn the other cheek.

Actually I think the fandom is likely way older, Maybe even as old as the entire mlp franchise, which yeah was also likely not as big as it was during g4.

The concept of fandom didn’t exist but then but I think just like Transformers and Ninja Turtles, there were fans of MLP from the past.

Fandom was just in a different state in the pre-Internet world.

There are many things I agree with here, sometimes it’s hard to think about looking back and wondering how the hell did people get together or find out about the things they liked?

It’s a bit of a frustrating feeling when you have a handful of favorite side characters and no one has drawn them for a week or more. :/
Both according to Derpibooru and recent images search on places like DA or Google.
And then all you find otherwise is weird AU stuff or things with the “-verse” suffix, and fan made offspring. >_>
