Who do ya’ll like. I like Joshscorcher even though he only does pony on the side.
I don’t care for that Strebiskunk guy. Annoying voice.

It's a cartoon show!
The reviewing scene has way too many people in my honest opinion. Filled with some of the most pretentious tripe out there. However I do find Tommy Oliver and Antony C to be quite entertaining and funny. As for Digibrony and all his other clones pfft.

The thing is that when you’ve got clones of something, it makes you appreciate the original more. Same thing happened when the AVGN was the cool thing to copy. Didn’t lessen how awesome he was.

Digibrony is okay, I guess. Won’t watch any reviewer that cloned him, though.

Does SF Debris count?

Regardless, Voice of Reason is really good IMO, since he backs up why he both likes or dislikes something, or why he thinks something is good or bad, and doesn’t resort to sophistry (like certain people I could name).

Oh and Bioshock Infinite may not survive Red Pill Game Reviews. If we’re discussing reviewers then there we go.

As far as reviewers go, I like Tommy Oliver even though I at times disagree with him. He likes Rarity, which I’ll admit is a plus in my book. ;)

Antony C, I can take or leave - his stuff is okay some of the time but other times meh.

I like DigiBrony, but I’ll gladly admit he comes off as way too much of a cheerleader a lot of the time. Sometimes, though, it helps to re-inject some positivity into this community.

I have a soft spot for OtakuAscended because they were among the first reviews I saw, though I guess their stuff doesn’t really count as “reviews”, more like “reaction commentaries”.

I’ve never seen Kimi Sparkle… *notices whose channel it is* …Aaaaand that would be why. (Me </3 FiW)

I’m pretty sure I’ve not watched Voice Of Reason either. I suppose he’s worth checking out?

One particular reviewer I avoided even before his fall from grace would be Chad The Apostate (aka CR). I found the few actual episode reviews he did to be rather poorly thought out, especially considering he’s on Blip, which should have much better quality stuff than Youtube - sorry I can’t go into detail on why I think his reviews are crap; it’s been awhile and I’m not going to watch him again just for the sake of a forum post.

@Whatevs
I liked Bioshock Infinite. Sure the story can totally fall apart if you overthink it, but I don’t care. As a history buff, I loved the hell out of Columbia. Also, the voice acting is phenomenal.

I assume this Red Pill outfit is set to rip it to shreds? I don’t watch any game reviewers, because they are all suspect as far as I’m concerned. I’ll take an LP almost any day of the week.

sort of. Red Pill Game Reviews has a political philosophy angle rather than gameplay and stuff.
The reason Infinite will may fall is it’s cartoony and exaggerated depiction of racism and the requisite Ancestor Disparaging in order to appear righteous and mature.
Particularly when contrasted with Bioshock: in that game Andrew Ryan and Objectivism were challenging to the viewer because his arguments were compelling.
Comstock’s are not.
If you want proof, just go to David Duke’s channel on youtube and watch a few of his videos. What he says is nowhere near the transparency of Comstock.
Naturally that is not an endorsement of David Duke, just some fact finding.

@Whatevs
Comstock is certainly transparent, sure, but I don’t really see that as a bad thing in terms of the game. I think it just goes to show that Columbia is a world where they don’t need to be compelling anymore, because they already won their war for hearts and minds, so now it’s just about reinforcing beliefs and building up the cult of personality around Comstock.

Also note that Infinite is set in 1912, the height of Jim Crow. Comstock’s arguments - such as they are - can be very compelling to people in that era, especially when you consider that that was a time when Socialism was actually a going concern in America, as was Anarchism (though that movement took a deservedly huge hit following McKinley’s assassination). So showing a society that backlashed against it makes sense, especially one that intentionally segregated itself before the real-life events they escaped sorted themselves out.

I find everything Andrew Ryan says utterly deplorable, but I’ll agree that he’s a more believable and charismatic “Prophet” than Comstock could ever be.

Sometimes it’s fun not to have to think. And with games, the gameplay should always take precedence over everything else. Too many modern reviewers forget that. Hell, Sonic 2006 wouldn’t be nearly as reviled as it is, even with its terrible story, if it didn’t also play like ass. Which it does. That game sucks.

BUT TO PONY. Is there a more obscure good reviewer you can recommend? Tommy and Digi can only get one so far.

Clowndicks resorts to sophistry…and trying to justify the ending to ME3 means that he’s also tainted by original sin.

As for Bioshock infinite: Apart from the audio and visuals, that game sucks. Also, if anyone defends the Ur-example of a god-mode mary sue Elizabeth as a “good” character while also criticising Twilicorn as a mary sue, then they are tacitly support mary sues as an acceptable characterisation.

One of the absolute best “oh, shit! burn!” moments I’ve seen in a 4chan screencap involved Bioshock Infinite.

It went something like this:

>Setting designed specifically to make nerds feel smart by playing it
>Incredibly linear story that presents itself as bigger than it actually is
>Unrealistic characters that are caricatures
>Cute, young, female companion that serves mainly as waifu bait/protection fantasy for the (mostly male)people playing

”So, can anyone tell me why Half-Life 2 is so beloved?“

I never said the ME3 ending was good. I hate it just as much as you do. I just said I don’t see how it contradicts earlier information.

Also, please stop using that word. You seem to have very little understanding of what it means.

I thought you meant there were pony reviewers you use sophistry.
And I fucking knew Elizabeth was a mary sue. HAH!

I don’t watch many pony reviewers unfortunately, thus I chose to criticise bad “arguments” (because they’re points more than actual arguments) and the people that use them.

I’m glad that we can both agree that Elizabeth is a mary sue…that everyone keeps praising for some reason (seriously, people in my family have been social workers for troubled children, and when I told them about Elizabeth’s childhood, they pretty much unanimously agreed that you would not get a bubbly disney princess™ out of that).

Dohoho.

First: I never said that you thought the ending to ME3 was good; I said that you are trying to justify it. Saying that Sovereign was misleading Shepard in the first game in order for the Catalyst to make sense is justifying the ending to ME3, just like saying that the Indoctrination Theory is true is Justifying ending. You are by no means defending it, but by trying to justify it is defending it et tacitum (hence the joke about being tainted by original sin).

As for sophistry, I do know what it mean, and my usage here has been correct. I have yet to hear an actual argument against Twilicorn from you (unlike The Twelfth Doctor Whoof or CronoM). Prove me wrong, and I’ll happily rescind what I say regarding your use of sophistry.

Gimme an example of what you consider an actual argument against Twilicorn.

And I never said Sovereign was trying to mislead Shepard, I said Sovereign was talking down to Shepard. Posturing=/=deception.
