Most Ruined Character?!

What character do you think started out great but was then ruined? I say Discord, but Rainbow Dash is a close second. AJ was ruined pretty bad too.
 
Some characters that were made way better to me are Twilight, Pinkie Pie and Rarity, but I’ll put them in the poll since I recognize that thet have changed quite a bit.

Fluttershy.
 
She teaches a bad moral by going through character deletion instead of character development.
 
We’re lucky the show stopped after the season the writers started hinting at political leanings with her.

She specifically mentions the cookies she gives to a snake are vegan (She Talks To Angel). You may recall that vegans in real life want to try to train / selectively breed all animals in the world to not eat meat?
 
This is the same mare who was feeding fish to her animals in season 1, back when she actually understood how animals worked.

The writers don’t want animals to go vegan. If they did, many species of animals would die. It was just a comedy scene. Only a few crazy vegans want that in real life, not a significant amount.

Sunset Shimmer. she went through what is basically a textbook example of character overwriting: she didn’t need a smooth transition from bad to good. nope, all she needs is a magical rainbow laser to the face and she’s good to go, no proper character development necessary! and her whole redemption arc was just the perfect way to shill her to the fanbase (read: SHOVE HER DOWN OUR FUCKING THROATS!) and from there she became the only character most bronies would ever give two shits about. and she’s just so damn good at everything she does without any reasonable explanation of how she learned and attained those skills and abilities.
 
and speaking of her fans, they don’t seem to do her any justice. if you even attempt to logically and/or objectively analyze her, they’ll shut you down and mock you for your dissenting opinions and observations. take her reformation for example; they’ll be in complete denial of how exactly it happened. either that or they mention other events in the series and take that out of context to make sense of her heel-face turn, which itself lacks logic.
 
I am sorry if I come off as an asshole (and I don’t like or enjoy being one) but Sunset’s introduction to the My Little Pony Gen 4 continuity is one of the worst things ever. she has ruined the show and the fandom. we’ll never recover from this debacle. and I bet you that in twenty or so years from now, her fans are going to regret ever loving her. she is the Buckcherry/Simple Plan/Crazy Town/Puddle of Mudd/Kid Rock of My Little Pony! and I regret ever liking her reformed self in the first place!

Discord. I liked him better as a “Q” stand-in from Star Trek. I felt like he was better as very chaotic and self-serving, and a better antagonist than a “good guy”.
 
I feel like they neutered him by trying to keep him “Good”. I sort of feel like it started in Season 3, when they really had a poor, unconvincing reason for bringing him back in the first place. It felt like they could have saved a lot of trouble by keeping him imprisoned.

Honestly, the Changelings in general were ruined…but that was going on four years ago and for the most part I’m at peace…still a little salty, but I won’t foam at the mouth anymore.

Discord was some hackneyed garbage ever since they “”””reformed”””” him, with every appearance getting worse and worse. When he wasn’t busy being a pop culture reference, he was a karma-Houdini piece of shit who actively made everyone miserable especially if he never got his way, and the way the final season handled him is even more gross. The only reason anyone ever tolerated him was because Fluttershy was regularly sucking his cock

Discord comes to mind. While, I don’t necessarily mind his trickster mentor schtick, best played in “Princess Twilight” and “The Beginning of the End” IMO, his continuing abrasive behavior got on my nerves A LOT. Especially when they showed him supposedly learning his lesson, and then conveniently forgetting it in his next appearance. “A Matter of Principals” is what broke the camel’s back for me. I’ll admit, I’m not Starlight’s biggest fan but I was wholeheartedly on her side against Discord, and it annoyed me that SHE’s the one who needed to learn the lesson instead of him. Then there’s his whole plan in S9, which while he had good intentions, I was really annoyed that he basically got away scoyt-free and all he had was a minor slap-on-the-wrist.
