It is advertised as a sequel for a reason. But you’re in luck, they aren’t even allowed to use g4 without paying royalties.

Well no, they can use G4 characters and locations is just after season 4
Or so that they may not be willing to without paying royalties. But they still could, and any characters prior are free reign.

names in general are not limited to characters (real or fictional), they’re also a part of something else that we too see around us, like for example ships, buildings, towns, countries, continents, planets, stars, galaxies, etc, any one of them with a name that has a capital latter, of which all sums up to them being: nouns.

This is one of Sunny’s problems, sometimes (because she barely gets highlighted) they try to make her something special, but no, she has nothing special and not that cool special nothing that anyone can shine like she was. ..in the movie,
it simply exists and only has any minimal importance due to its alicorn power.

for example, it’s that thing about the heart necklace, she didn’t do anything in the episode to make the breezes want to give her that necklace, and with doing nothing is literally doing nothing she was just following zipp and in a subplot of a pipp episode .

Sort of, but it makes sense given that Misty is the main focus of the arc as a whole and then the other episodes are used more to help flesh out the other Mane cast given Sunny had a whole movie where she was the main focus and character. With the hints at the end of the series and whatnot I could see her getting much more a spotlight going into whatever next arc they have planned. Plus she’s not like, disappeared, she has agency and one or two focus episodes, she’s just not the MAIN character (which by the later parts of FiM was certainly the case for Twilight as well).

The thing is Sunny kind-of already completed her character arc in the movie so by MYM and TYT, she’s kind-of just… there. It’s not like the writers have no idea what do with her now though; she keeps saying she wants to continue to inspire Equestria as the alicorn, but she’s pretty static for the most part and actually has to get dragged into moving the plot forward.

I think maybe they could have her work harder on re-integrating the three tribes, and both MYM and TYT delved into that a for one episode, but then went on like Equestria’s been integrated for years and as if that wasn’t hard.

I think what make Sunny a better character would be not just to inspire Equestria but her friends on a personal level.

Like I dont know if they did this, but I think it would be great if it was Sunny who helped Misty see the light of friendship. Or Hitch is too cynical and needs a reminder to drean again.

Because I think Sunnys best feature in the movie is her idealism. She might not be the funniest or the smartest but she was the most idealistic and the one with a big heart.

Otherwise shes kind of boring.

She should be the Superman of G5 in the way she inspires others to be better people in a cynical world.

Well thats the thoughts of someone who barely watches MYM and TYT.

I think G5 was trying to do the Six-Act Structure, but something happened along the way.

The Movie is “Living in an imperfect situation”. Equestria is divided, and magic is gone.
Chapters 1-3 were “Learning the rules of an unfamiliar situation”. Now that the tribes are reunite and magic is back, they need to figure out how to make New Equestria work.
Chapter 4 is “Stumbling into the central conflict”. The cast learns of the existence of the main villain Opaline, and has their first run-in with her.
I was expecting them to go on a quest to find some way of defeating Opaline, but it either doesn’t work, backfires, or succeeds but at a terrible cost. This would have been “Implementing a doomed plan”.

Acts 4 and 5 are there, but they’re condensed into three episodes, and the plot is driven less by character stuff, and more by plot devices.

that cause a ridge is just common, hence why it isn’t capitalized, besides it’s mainly how it is cause they don’t want to give too much away in the title itself.

how that you’ve mentioned that, in star wars Anakin is too the chosen one in his universe, and in the clone wars they put him in the backburner in most of the series, so this is likely what they’re doing to sunny, by saving her for special occurrences (which was more for mym then tyt) and now that it’s just tyt, I believe they’ll be having her in the spotlight from this point on.

Of course it doesn’t have to; it just seemed like that was the direction they were headed. Besides, the story needed one more major turning point, and The Element of Hope needed one more major doubt to overcome.

Well, the “doomed plan” actually is there, it’s the new Mane 6 attempting to defeat Opaline by themselves. I loved how that part of the story gave us Hitch, Pipp, Zipp, and Izzy doing a good job of holding off Opaline and Misty and Sunny showing the audience just how far gone Opaline is.

Yeah, but I feel there are more missed opportunities with these sort of moments.

-Spike being depressed at the realisation time had passed and his friends are dead. Nope, he’s fine.

-The Breezies, whom hail from an ancient time and separate themselves from the ponies because of what they did thanks to a purple instigator, are wary but immediately got over their fear because of the 5 seconds of kindness Sunny and Co. had shown. And they also welcomed the rest, including Posey whom by extension, I would expect to be terrified of them.

-We got a lesser angst version of disgust, I feel there could be more impact if Zipp and Pipp were angry than disgusted, I mean they might have or had a dad.
