I’ve seen people talk about how we don’t know a lot about the core locations in G5.
I disagree.
While it’s true that they haven’t done a ton of infodumps, each of the locations does have a distinct culture that is conveyed by showing rather than telling.
Bridlewood is all about magic, superstitions, traditions, and rituals. Things are somewhat cryptic, and there’s an emphasis on being one with nature.
Zephyr Heights is the opposite. It’s all about technology, information and The Next Big Thing. There’s an emphasis on grandeur and opulence, which is reflected in the architecture.
Maretime Bay is much more grounded. Because it’s the setting’s “melting pot”, it has less of a distinct culture. Nevertheless, there’s an emphasis on small, personality-driven businesses, which both Izzy and Pipp embrace.
There’s also little details of how the different cultures are mixing. Some unicorns and pegasi have moved to Maretime Bay because they like the small town feel. The rest of Equestria has readily embraced pegasus technology, while the secrets of Bridlewood take some coaxing to reveal themselves.
The different cultures aren’t something you’re told, they’re something you experience.
