In that case, we’d have to see where things go in the series after they patch up race relations. Hopefully this won’t be another case of them doing the “disability representation” thing in a universe that ought to be able to remedy whatever it is and hoping the audience doesn’t notice. Though if her bad wing doesn’t leave her utterly flightless, I guess she may not be too keen on having it chopped off and replaced with robot parts.
 
Or worse, maintain these dystopian post-race-war laws throughout the whole series. If that happens, I’ll likely hunker down and hope the IDW comic keeps going until G6.

So, apparently unicorns are supernatural-based and bat ponies are horror-based. Isn’t supernatural and horror more or less the same thing? That would mean the land of the unicorns and the land of the bat ponies will look exact.

Okay I’m calling BS on that leak, it sounds like a bad fanfiction.

I really hope we get a trailer or something soon so we can finally get something concrete instead just having to rely on year old leaks and stuff that barely tells us anything.

I’ve recently noticed something interesting about the animatic: The scene shown in the animatic has a lot of focus on G4’s Mane 6 for around at least 3/4 of this 30-second scene:

The “Magic of friendship” is probably going to be a fairly central focus of G5 if it’s going to be taking cues from G4, especially if the races aren’t on the best terms, it’s going to be about how the ponies of now could learn from the old Mane 6 about getting along

I think it’s supposed to be “bright fantasy” and “gothic horror” architecturally. That was the impression I got anyway.

Yeah, early leaks mentioned the unicorn land to be an enchanted forest (thus, something supernatural).

Nothing lasts forever. It is also not surprising that conflicts should break out between different peoples or “races” sooner or later, as times of crisis can trigger resource scarcity and instability which will thus lead to quarrels and then open hostility. By the time the G4 ended (Season 10 / Last Problem), Twilight Sparkle had expanded Equestria across all known boundaries, and may eventually have become an empire based on friendship - which foresaw the element of stability. What will happen if this disappears, if Twilight either lost the motive to rule or retire without anyone being able to take over after her? If there is one problem that cannot be cured among the ponies, it is that they tend to have a lack of control over their emotions and can have serious communication problems when they need to vent what is bothering them. The alicorn committee may have concluded that this had to be brought under control, thus introducing a strict regime in place to preserve what Twilight had left behind, but did not pursue her ideology which was essential to the common society.
 
So MC who had obviously been inspired by the legends of the Mane 6 which may be a thousand years old in his time, will do something because he felt insecure about the alicorns and their way of governing, if they were to have an autocratic regime which must have tight control over Equestria for the sake of peace. He will thus bring forth friendship again, and give the people new hope where they can learn how to live together again. And it is possible that the movie will show the villains who had spread the corruption, before the elements are used.
 
Thus, the G5 can start in earnest.

We already have Star Trek airships in the IDW comics - G5 may have more advanced technology than us, but still futuristic rather than science fiction - and we know that the MLP world has a sluggish civilization development where most primary needs are emphasized rather than massive development. They may have futuristic airships, high-speed trains, advanced communication technology and much more - but it is very unlikely that something as simple as a car can become a fact. If the common society is split into separate societies with minimal contact between them in coexistence as depicted, there will not be much inspiration for mass transport and other things. Until the 19th century, technological development also slowed down in our world, although there is something about war and greed pushing technology to new heights - and if there is one thing the ponies do not have, it is greed.
 
Furthermore; “One Thousand Years” may explain why Spike and the G4 alicorns should be absent from the movie, and why the Mane 6 have become legends in hindsight. We do not know if the alicorns are immortal or just live long, and we know that Spike, like Torch, can be simply too big (or he just sleeps while the movie happens) for contact with MC and his friends. They may appear later in G5 episodes.
 
It may be a shock if the G4 alicorns are on the alicorn committee that MC and his friends had to confront during the movie, and that they had simply become too old-fashioned in their ideas of how to rule a country with its people. But this is unlikely. Is it?

If a race war broke out, that implies a crisis and scapegoating. The comica had a brief story involving dragons in basically pony L.A. and there’s no mention of dragons in the “leak” so it’s possible things could start there.

Come to think of it, if G5 becomes a continuation of G4 many centuries later - it means that G4 will “live forever”, as one can look back to the time when the Mane 6 lived, even post-Season 10 stories in comics, TV and movies. And G4’s past with Tirek, Discord, the royal sisters, the pillars and many others will continue in G5. G5 will probably only be about reviving the legacy of the Mane 6 and the concept of “friendship is magic”, the past of G4 can be ignored or taken over by the IDW comics.
 
A book was opened and later closed when the G4 generation was in full swing - now Hasbro will bring out a new book. We can only hope that it will be very thick. It would be a wonderful irony if MC were to find the book from G4 at the beginning of the movie, on a book page!
 
G1 slides partly into G4, which now slides straight into G5. My Little Pony is now on par with Transformers.

You have a point. We’re getting a bit carried away due to the lack of depth in the news we get, but it’s a good way to get busy until February 25th! Let’s hope something good comes out by then.

The optimist in me is looking forward to the 25th. The pessimist in me thinks no MLP info will be announced. Can’t wait to see which one is right.

Truth or not; At least that post helped get my hopes back up after all that negativity from the past few days. And it got me to think about how there actually are still plenty of possibilities even with the official information given.
 
If it weren’t for that post, I probably wouldn’t have become interested in G5 at all (even if the “description” within may possibly be phony).

I’m more concerned with the quality of the book’s contents than its size. With any luck this latest “leak” will prove to be a big steaming pile of horse apples (or a rough draft that will be refined into something very different).
