MLP G5 Discussion and Speculation Thread

Honestly yes, I’m still little peeved that generation 5 (the show maybe) would still be considered Gen 4. I don’t understand why they couldn’t do what TMNT did, I mean they’ve been around the same time as well lol.

I think I would like it if they give some hints towards one of the main characters as being a descendant of one of the g6 main characters

I really doubt they will do that. Chances are the next generation won’t be related to the mane6. None of them.

It was just an idea popped put into my head but it doesn’t necessarily needs to be the mane 6 Or even a main a character actually

Because it is a smarter move. Why start from scratch when there is so much more to explore? There are whole areas of the map that they didn’t even touch. Why abandon all of it if they didn’t even touch the surface of the MLP world? They were always afraid of going beyond. Perhaps now it will be different.

It’s a cool idea. I would like that to happen, too. I wouldn’t want G5 to not give information about what happened to the mane6. Having a descendant of the mane6 would be a neat idea. And like you said it doesn’t need to be a main character.

I can’t imagine what would change in terms of writing prowess that would make them capable of exploring areas we’ve been chomping at the bit for for the better part of 6 years.

I beg to differ. I think it would be totally easier just to make a new world, they could still implement some of the ideas gen 4 had, just like what gen 4 did with all the other past generations. If this is going to be a sequal to gen 4 , that would lead into so many question, that it would probably break and bend some of the already established lore.Unless by what they meant by gen 4, is a alternate reality one, where the outcome of the story is more or less the same while the journey might have been completely different. But we’ll see what happens…

Yes, they did. We just need to know who are them: The ponies that are being released alongside the Mane Six in Pony Life’s Secret Rings collection or other ones.

I’m just kind of holding my breath until we finally get more information at the end of this month, at the investor meeting on Feb 25th.

I didn’t think about the whole “Cozy Glow is innocent” thing many people are still talking about. I meant when she returns she will still be irredeemable, and that it would be interesting because there can be moments where she may even find ways to be even worse than before.
 
For example: Once Cozy Glow is freed she’ll find a way to steal Twilight’s alicorn magic and overthrow her, becoming an immortal tyrant who turns Equestria into a hellhole. No one was able to defeat her because alicorn magic. But then the protagonist comes along…
 
But that’s only one possibility if Cozy Glow is planned to be an antagonist for G5. And I’m not referring here to the movie, but any part of the generation.

Id rather they leave G4 things to callbacks or background mainly; Id really like G5 to be it’s own thing and it being in the same world of sorts is already a mild disappointment to me but I’m still hopeful they do it well enough that its very different

I agree. I honestly do not want to see gen 4 villains be villains in gen 5 . They already stayed their welcome to me.

The only reason I actually thought of that to begin with was because of, as I said before, all those people who keep saying she can be easily redeemed. I wanted them proven wrong. And I didn’t think I would have ended up unintentionally sounding like one of those people when I mentioned Cozy Glow a few days ago.
 
But now that I am thinking about it; they’ll probably think of any additional evildoing as non-canon anyways partly because it’s the next generation, among other reasons.

 
IF it is true, then the movie is gonna be awesome! I’m just a bit annoyed with the slight lack of harmony between the possible main characters. We’re getting three or four characters with wings and two or three with horns, but no wingless, hornless characters… However, there may be a seventh main character who just happens to be an Earth Pony! Let’s wait to see if it is true (I do hope it is).

Whoo boy. That movie sounds like… I’m not quite sure how to feel about it. Things are gonna get crazy if even half of that is true.

20 bits says the bat pony is gonna be as popular in G5 as RD was in G4.

Yeah, the concept with the different lands sounds kind of interesting, but the story of how Equestria got that way… not so much. It sounds like fans’ worst fears with the recent emphasis on “diversity and inclusion” have been realized.

Yeah when you end a series with “and all the races came together and were happy” starting the ‘sequel’ with “so eventually a race war broke out” is not a good sign.
