Gargoyles and Young Justice had coherent worlds and the status quo got shaken up every now and then but I’m not sure Hasbro would give him the budget and timeline necessary to fully develop his ideas. At best I could see him coming up with a series bible and that’s about it.
I’m expecting G5 to have a more fleshed out world (and if we’re lucky, a magic system) but mostly focus on slice of life interpersonal drama. Nothing groundbreaking in terms of story telling or plot development. Season one is likely to be a little underwhelming but once the characters and setting are established (and the writers and actors are settled into things) it should pick up. Six seasons and a movie at most but I wouldn’t be surprised if we only got four.
My attempts at realistic expectations being said, I’d like to see the
show be something Hasbro invests in. This type of programming is usually produced at a loss to drive toy sales but if She-Ra (the Netflix reboot) is anything to go by, it may be worth the cost to make it stand on its own.
