So I made a poll on what episodes you would like to see in g5

Izzy is better than Pinkie. At least Izzy isn’t constantly screaming, and doesn’t tell bad jokes at inappropriate times.

Izzy can even be afraid at times too compared to Sunny like worrying about going to see the pegasi.

Well if you think about it, we’ve only seen Izzy for one movie so it’s all that we’ve seen from her compared to Pinkie who’s had an entire series length run and supplementary material behind her back. A bit of an unfair comparison if you ask me.

Yeah, having a single movie to judge accuratly their full personalities on is difficult if not impossible. At least with Friendship is Magic season 1 we had a whole season to understand them fully in a shorter amount of time.

Nothing against Pinkie, but it was refreshing that the movie didn’t lean on one of those hyperactive comic-relief types that you see in many animated movies these days.

I’ll also give the writers credit for making Sunny an activist without making her come off as self-righteous.

Honestly, I might have liked her a bit more self-righteous in a sense? Or perhaps “embittered” would be a better way to describe it - having lost all faith in earth ponies due to her constant rejection while fantasising about unicorns and pegasi as wildly as her fellow citizens, but in the opposite direction.

Unicorns are Pitbulls.

When I was first getting into G4, Pinkie was my favourite. I was always excited to see what she would do next. There were a couple of moments where I really fell in love with G5. The second one was when Izzy says “Pfff, relax. I’ll go talk to them.”, because I couldn’t wait to see what Izzy would do. Pinkie is more of a force of nature, where Izzy is more of a character.

Sunny not being self-righteous was important for two reasons:

I want squirk to be in the upcoming 2022 mlp g5 special.

I like to see squirk gets revamp in g5

Lauren Faust designed the six to be almost larger than life. They are incredibly strong, fortified female protagonists. Pinkie is indestructible, classic slapstick, as if she were plucked right out the 1930’s Golden Era.

I love the six for the epic legends they became, but I admire the NewGen ponies because they are more down-to-earth and believable.

But she isn’t wrong about anything, at least in the movie. Not really.

I think what makes Sunny really likeable is the fact that she’s determined to defend the idea that everypony can be friends again as they were in the past as much as her father believed in. Even though she would make little mistakes and imperfect approaches to reach that goal, I find her really really likeable.

At first we feared it’ll go the route similar to I’m Not Starfire or something similar if I can name it but thankfully it didn’t. And we hope it stays that way.
