MLP G5 Discussion and Speculation Thread

I think the relationships rule was one of the things that made sense for a show that was going to run 65 episodes tops, but was not to the benefit of one that ran to over 200. (Not the only thing like that, either.)

I think somewhere in this forum it’s said that the G5 show would go for at least 5 seasons (or 130 episodes, assuming 26 for each, maybe 65 if each season is 13 episodes instead but that’s a rare season format from my understanding). It was apparently leaked from Russia, but might have to look around a bit here to confirm.
EDIT: Found it. Mistaken that it was 5 seasons, just 2 with very noticeable lag in the seasons half-way through.

Interesting that the seasons of G5 are going to take a lot longer than the yearly full seasons we had for G4. 1 complete season per two years for G5

65 is the golden number for syndication. The standard season for an American television series is 26 episodes. A break in the middle of a season would mean 13 episodes per part. Since ordering a second season before the first premiers is becoming a common practice, I wouldn’t be surprised if Hasbro just ordered 65 episodes in total.

Nope. We already know the character designer for the G5 movie (Imalou) and her style is far different from Pony Life’s.

Edit:
Hey, guys! Talking about Imalou, have you seen a preview of a upcoming fanproject of hers? I think it’s a good clue to how G5 may more or less look like. Here (I hope this darn link works):

“Since G4 has been so focused on interpersonal relationships, I think a better exploration of the four loves and how love can change would be a good way for G5 to go.” I totally agree and hope that they atleast try to do that in Gen 5. On a side note personally I didn’t really like the “implied” romance. I mean I get why they would do it, but I would rather them be more upfront about a relationship instead of it being in the background.

I’m down with pony nuzzling. Kissing seems weird when they aren’t human. Maybe I’m just being bigoted, though.

Hell, it wouldn’t be hard to tackle all things considered. If The Loud House is anything to go by, having two dads or one of the younger cast be gay isn’t a problem for broadcasters these days.

It was a little strange that the only one of the Mane 6 they made in an explicit relationship was Pinkie.

im not a big fan of romance in cartoons mostly because its in a lot of cartoons and it usually devolves that into being the focus rather than other things.

Not saying it can’t be done well just usually I dread it because its not done well but shippers eat it up

I comepletly understand your thoughts, but like someone said before if there was already someone in a relationship I think that would be completely fine.(I mean people are gonna ship who they want to ship anyway even there is a canon relationship).I just honestly want them to show more types relationships other than “Friendship”, and balance them out instead of keeping the friendship lessons in the forefront.

Oh yeah as long as it doesn’t become THE focus in the story I’m fine with it. Some episodes on it and all would be fine a lot of shows just drop the ball (if I see one more will they won’t they scenario where they obviously will but it waits til the finale to actually confirm)

“We’ve been together for a couple years” or “we’ve been married for a few weeks” or what?

I go by a year or two.

That’s my main issue with “The Last Problem”, the writers are being too safe with the romance between the main characters, they don’t mind having Pinkie Pie to start a family but why not with the rest of the mane six. Hopefully these G5 writers do a better job with romance then G4.

Honestly, the pairings the went with (along with what they did with Spike) were very surprising. As much as I’m looking forward to the season 10 comics, I wouldn’t mind them exploring that future more.

Exacly, Yes. I hope with gen 5 they go more in depth with relationships in general. In the episode “Parental Glideance”, I didn’t like how they made Rainbow Dash the bad guy, because what she said was true(How she said it was bad, but it was understandable).Being “too” supportive is a very dangerous thing especially when you’re parent. That episode completely glossed over that fact, and played it as a joke.I just wished that episode handled that stiuation more seriously.

As long as there isn’t like, an EqG1 Flash Sentry-esque love interest I’d be okay with a little bit of romance with the main characters in theory. When FiM started tackling romance it kinda stood out since it was avoided for so long so if Gen 5 started with more romance at the beginning it wouldn’t be as jarring as it was in G4.

…you know, that reminds me, if they do tackle romance, do you think it’s possible at all that there could be an LGBT character in G5 or at least implied LGBT character with more prominence than FiM’s LGBT characters had (LyraBon, Scootaloo’s aunts)? I know that they need to have as far of a reach as possible but I wonder if they might take that step. And not make a big deal out of it but still make it obvious enough, yah know?
