Now that I’ve seen the issue about Cadence, the writers had just twisted the lore around Cadence A LITTLE, and shown us why we like the manipulative Celestia, who was able to defeat an entire ARMY of dragons even though we didn’t see the action. There was a horrific war between dragons and ponies in the past, and Celestia had spent much of her time for a thousand years protecting the ponies - so Canterlot was a natural place to attack, to take out the biggest threat. Cadence was exceptionally brave while also showing her compassion, and ended a war before it escalated. Celestia was… surprised by what Cadence had done. But the ascension to alicornhood was… meek.

Nothing about G5 in the issue. This raises a question; why did Hasbro choose to allow a new G4 issue? Maybe as part of the canceled series where all generations were supposed to be in the same universe?

I love how they have a ratio where Sunny will get like 15 episodes where she has nothing interesting to do, and then all of a sudden drop one of the best episodes and have her star in them.

I think my top 3 of TYT are all Sunny episodes.

Wow. Blow me away. There are elements taken from Star Wars - the scene where Luke Skywalker confronts Darth Vader just to see himself, I think it’s a warning from the mysterious intelligence in the Crystal Brighthouse in response to Sunny’s self-reflection about her alicorn powers. And; it’s perhaps the first time I’ve seen Sunny react to books like Twilight’s successor since the movie. The fight scenes between the two alicorns - who are actually not Celestia and Luna even though they came out of the portrait of the royal siblings, but from Sunny’s own subconscious - good versus evil. Which seems to be a copy of a fantastic fan work of the fight between Nightmare Moon and Celestia from so long ago. Sunny was deeply shaken, but she had learned that with great power comes its risks.

Now I’m definitely sure that the mysterious intelligence can only be Twilight Sparkle who projected her actions from afar because only an alicorn would be able to create the episode where Sunny is confronted with the dark side of the alicornhood. Twilight perhaps more than anything knows how easily power can corrupt, and that one needs to be a good alicorn in awareness of the risks. It could mean that something might be wrong with Skyros, maybe there is a friendship problem there between the alicorns who had failed to help when Opaline attacked Equestria.

Misty as usual is the balancer of the group, she helped Sunny out and made her comfortable with the fact of her inner struggles.

As we all know, all alicorns carry within them a potential for evil that can erupt because they are among the most powerful beings in the entire world. Nightmare Moon. Daybreaker. Midnight Sparkle. Opaline.

The new issue about Cadence showed that a full-grown alicorn at full strength can fight an army of dragons, and Sunny had trouble with a very unusually strong dragon with supernatural powers. That said, Sunny was not as strong as an alicorn, when Opaline was at her full strength it was very lucky that she didn’t go all-out.

So if the Rainbow of Light locket is in Sunny’s possession, she should take it with her to Skyros. It will give her an advantage even against hordes of hostile alicorns.

yeah it does remind me of Star Wars a bit, in this case, a balance of good vs evil, a choose of Sunny either going down the good or bad path of being an Alicorn, after all the episode is called “The Alicorn Path”.

So the two alicorns could be of Sunny as a full grown alicorn, what do you think her evil personality is called? Maybe the reverse of her name “Sunny”. And boy, can they fight!

The portrait of the royal siblings was replaced with some new tapestry of two unidentified alicorns that could be of Sunny as a full grown alicorn. So slit pupils could be a sign of an evil alicorn, which could mean that Opaline wasn’t 100% evil.

Maybe this episode shows what Sunny would have looked like as a full grown alicorn.

The animatic we got today proves otherwise. >:) This animatic is probably my favorite, I just love character development for Sunny, alicorn lore, and the fact that we even got Misty back with her plot about learning magic!

The personalities change so much, they Might as well just make them new characters.

They still don’t use the exact same list of characters every show.
Again , g4 was only around for roughly ten years and had four versions of them.
Also animated Animated was not like prime

MLP is not Transformers.

I’m also not fond of the idea of eschewing the full cast changes - sprinkled with remixed character concepts and the occasional design reference - to chase the one group of characters we’ve already seen half a dozen interpretations of over 10+ years.

We never did get Sombra’s return. We were lied to.
