MLP G5 Discussion and Speculation Thread

These speculations feed on themselves, without a word from Hasbro about this. The idea of ​​Ponyverse is undoubtedly interesting, but if the reason behind the problems with G5 is not overcome it may be useless, likewise if Hasbro were to start work on G6, which may require several years. 3 years would be reasonable to develop the G6, so it won’t come in 2025-2027. Most likely by 2030.

Then Hasbro needs to fill up the void between 2024 and 2030, and the Ponyverse may have been picked up where G4 and G5 can be put together, with elements taken from G1 and G3. It has turned out that the interest in G4 exceeded everything that had been foreseen by Hasbro, which cannot restart this generation, so a continuation is necessary - with G5 or G6. For G4 has become the mountain My Little Pony is anchored to.

Obviously, it had been understood that G4 had to act as a background for all future publications regardless of whether they are alternate dimensions, generations or whatever. But it makes the drop much greater, and in certain places it seems that the “Boeing curse” has come to Hasbro.

Have noticed that the relationship between management and workers in Hasbro is not good. This is a growing problem in many American corporations where the treatment of workers has deteriorated to the point of loss of trust and distrust. The “you’re fired” idea that many Americans took to heart has serious consequences that unfortunately far too many were unable to realize. This is what the “Boeing Curse” is all about.

To be fair, this “Ponyverse” thing does sound like the kind of thing Hasbro would cook up to milk G4 nostalgia while still selling G5 toys.

Never mind the stained glasses in the TYT episode where Misty got her spell book in a secret room in the lighthouse setting the biggest possible crossover buildup.

I hope by a small amount that episode meant something beyond being easter eggs.

Was I the only one who didn’t care for this episode? I get Allura’s hesitance on taking Izzy out since she’s in an unfamiliar territory and didn’t want to end up alerting the others by killing her or capturing her then and there, but I would expect she would be a much bigger threat. Also, the running gag didn’t do it for me, I didn’t find it funny, sorry

Ah, where Misty stumbles across the works of “Swirlstar” - a painful reminder that Hasbro proudly advertised G5 as a sequel knowing full well that they’d be limited in the extent to which they could actually treat it as such.

Since I posted this comment, I was able to find one comment out of the many comments I’ve read about the current situation from someone on Equestria Daily claiming they “saw the proof of the insider(mdash)’s statements with their own eyes”. It is possible mdash is only sharing evidence with certain friends of his as to take less of a risk with getting in trouble for leaking information. However, evidence or no evidence, nothing’s set in stone. Earlier this year, a situation similar to ours happened within the Bluey fandom, where many fans believed the show was ending based on its recently weird output of content and the word of an insider who was able to back up his claims and prove that he was a Ludo Studio employee. Despite that, his information turned out to be inaccurate and outdated.

It was Solbit on EQD, I’m not aware of how to contact them. I’m also not aware of how to contact mdash, as he’s currently not accepting friend requests on Discord. I’m all ears if someone wants to privately share the evidence that’s allegedly been shown.

So realistically, how long do you think G5 will go on for?

IMO I think it will last about another 2, especially if that rumored “ponyverse” thing is gonna be the next main instalment for the foreseeable future

2 years sounds about right. This month makes G5 3 years old.

Hard to say how long it’ll continue, especially with the sporadic releases artificially extending it. But I think there’s still a roadmap saying it’ll continue well into next year.

Like you said the fact that Hasbro is trying to artificially extend this gens lifespan is not helping either.

That and since the main show for this generation (MYM) has ended and all the future content and specials seem to be just the TYT shorts, I’m not sure how much longer G5 can go that

I figured for a while it would last until 2025. Regardless of what happens, something about them having no MLP content for 2025 seems very off to me.

I imagine if this rumored Ponyverse isn’t the next main installment, it would probably be a “filler” series just to keep MLP relevant until G6 officially starts

(Like how Pony Life was made just to give is pony content until we got the g5 movie)

That always felt weird to me. Why not just go the extra step and give us standalone episodes or specials instead of doing G4.5?

Making a new series to eke out anything left of the current Generation before moving onto the next one had been done in every Gen that’s had an animated series. I think it’s fairly likely we’ll get “G5.5” whenever the current run does end.

Still, it’s safe to say, all in all, MLP as a whole franchise is back to square one, like it always was.
