Some people finally will manage to identify the new non-English VAs!

The drama surrounding Queen Calla Lily ends in a finale where she is reunited with her sister and made peace with the new queen who revealed that she is capable as queen of the Shadow Sea. The New Mane 6 did not do much beyond being participants in the drama which is about the two queens and their realms. And Queen Maris revealed why the Shadow pearl was important for all anchors, with it she can return them to their locations - which then means that the guardians of the anchor of Shadow sea may have been the foremost of all guardians. Calla Lily and Anemone also descended from the guardians of anchor of Sparkling Sea.

Queen Maris had learned from the Shadow pearl why the anchors could not be gathered; the seven seas were never meant to be tamed - for the inhabitants of the seven seas were to come together and part with each other as allies and friends of their own free will. This may be a hint that the seven seas were once united in the past with an anchor in each sea. This is suspiciously similar to what Twilight Sparkle had in her “friendship doctrine”.

But there were no further revelations. Nothing about why Calla Lily and Anemones predecessors had taken the other anchors, nor about the circumstances as it happened three and a half generations before the events of the SYS arc. Only that a queen had started the darkness for fear of unknown creatures and may have used the Ersatz enchantment - which led to corruption. This is rather vague, but it is somewhat reminiscent of the matter surrounding the Guardians of the Unity Crystals depicted in the book from MYM Ch 3. According to the book, the guardians began to forget their obligations and eventually came into conflict with each other, so they separated from each other - and that was the end of active magic for the ponies. What is said is that one of the guardians of the seven seas had begun to break with the others out of fear, and may have started an unknown process that ended with the destruction of all realms except the Sparkling Sea.

Something had definitely happened - and it was at the same time as the Great Separation in Equestria.

The trench ponies started expeditions to the other realms, at the same time the train traffic started again, this testifies that Calla Lily and Maris had joined forces to rediscover the seven seas.

The sea dragons are mentioned at the end, which may mean that the next topic in G5 will be about the dragons.

Seems like even thought the comics are debatably canon it seems to be unlike TYT more story driven and towards an older audience

With all of MYM going on YouTube, hopefully we get a playlist consisting of all the MYM and TYT episodes in chronological order.

I think the magic anchors are meant for external magic, not internal magic. The Unity Crystals control the ponies’ magic that came from them, while these anchors interestingly seem to control magic in the surroundings around the sea ponies.

When Twilight created the Unity Crystals, MYM Ch. 1 revealed that uncontrolled magic that arose when the ponies came into discord with each other was very destructive and dangerous to the environment. It is now widely accepted that Twilight “took” the ponies’ magic by removing their “focus” which enables the use of active magic, and concentrated it in the crystals. It was not only to regulate magic and prevent dangerous magical crises, it was also to protect it from magic thieves. But in more recent times this has been expanded to include anything related to pony magic such as when Discord could age and when the chimeric critters in Equestria lost their magic.

The seas have a lot of magic, probably this is background magic that accumulates in the large waters with magically active inhabitants - and this still had to be regulated, hence “anchors” - which in itself means that an anchor is thrown to save oneself. These anchors regulate magic in the realms, not the magic in the inhabitants. Calla Lily did not understand the difference between the Unity Crystals and the seven sea anchors, these are fundamentally on different principles. What that entailed has not been answered - why is the word “anchor” used for the seven magical items?

S10 may have been the background for Opaline’s declaration that Twilight had an empire in the past, and we know from the IDW comics and S8-S9 that Twilight had strong ambitions to create a worldwide friendship network, not least after the Storm King had attacked Canterlot. She was well underway when the “harmony knights” from Cunabula were expelled and the many representatives from the realms on at least two to three continents entered into a pact.

Someone at Hasbro wants both MYM and TYT to be in G3 rather than G4. The G3 was not a huge success because it was too childish.

I meant like the repeating of the beginning of G5. Where Sunny traverse out to unite the tribes. It’s very similar.

Episode 1 of chapter 2 had been on YT already since the beginning, but it’s nice to see episode 2 join it.

I wonder if the specials will also get uploaded (ANG probably won’t since it’s available for sale on YT and other platforms).

Despite the drawbacks in terms of potential viewership by releasing the series on Netflix rather than YouTube, and the scattered binge releases, I can’t say I wish it were another way. There was a certain prestige about the spaced apart binge releases Netflix put up, and Netflix has my personal favorite UI of any streamer.

One other thing that I love about G5 being released on streamers rather than traditional linear TV channels is that it made it a lot easier to compare different language dubs.

Calla Lily and possibly her predecessors may have the best of intentions, but Equestria was united from time immemorial and the three tribes of ponies are one, while the seven seas that encompass the entire world differ greatly from sea to sea, and the population of the Sparkling Sea was itself quite diversified. She had only wanted to return the seven seas to their former glory, but she didn’t know how, thinking that Equestria could be used as a model.

Queen Maris made it clear that the seven seas cannot be tamed, but can be united through friendship - and that is what she does when she wants to explore all the seas and find the different realms that are revived after the return of the anchors. If the seven seas were to unite, it must happen with the free will of the residents. This is not nation-building as Sunny was doing, but an underwater “globalization”. It may be what it had been when Twilight ruled, seven separate realms - united by friendship and peaceful coexistence.

I think what we see in the SYS may reflect the “Empire of Friendship” Twilight had established - freedom for the many different realms and beings to seek each other in the spirit of friendship. More like the United Nations in our world, but based on very different philosophies, and from what is known, the whole world has known each other for a very long time. When Celestia ruled, isolation and minimal contact were likely the rule between the many realms, there may not have been customs protection, visa requirements or border control as we knew it - but there was minimal interest for those involved. This changed after the Storm King’s ravages that ended in Canterlot, where Twilight experienced a shock that would mark her for the rest of her life.

Twilight was a proponent of globalization - a peaceful globalization.

While G3 was not as big as G4 would be (nothing in the franchise was), it was certainly popular within in own context. It was something of a return to form after G1’s waning later years and the unpopular G2.

It was less popular near the end of its life, but so was every Generation.

Well, there are highly viewed MYM videos that have gotten over a million views and the most viewed MYM clip compilation, funnily enough, has 10M views (it starts with a clip from the movie, but the rest is MYM clips). I think videos of full-length episodes are capable of obtaining high viewership honestly.

Yeah, I already knew they put all of Izzy Does It on YouTube back in the day as a way to promote the show on Netflix, but that was purely done for promotion. This upload of it with Growing Pains, by contrast, seems to suggest that the show is coming to YouTube. Moreover, I couldn’t find the original upload of Izzy Does It while going through the MYM playlist, I believe they might have taken it down. It’s still on the Netflix After School channel, but I don’t believe the full episode by itself is on the MLP official channel anymore.

Interesting, I hadn’t realized that the original upload of ep 1 was possibly removed from the official MLP channel - what made me think that they were just going to go through and upload the episodes was because they’ve been doing that with FiM episodes for a while.

It has come out that there will be a third issue in the Storm arc of IDW comics.

“As Equestria’s catastrophic weather tears apart the kingdom, Princess Zipp and her Mane 6 discover the source of the chaos…and meet a favorite Friendship Is Magic pony?! Princesses Zipp and Pipp must work together to quell the dangers of Cloudsdale as Izzy and Hitch take flight in the Zeppelin, set on protecting their kingdom and their friends. In this climactic end of the Zephyr Heights saga, secrets of the past are revealed, friendships are strengthened, and a new leader finds their way to power! for Pony fans!”

A G4 pony to meet Zipp? Dare we say it’s Rainbow Dash who will meet her successor? Think it will likely be a recording or a statue, but it could mean Zipp could be face to face with the legendary pegasus from G4. So far, the New Mane 6 have not seen what their predecessors looked like, only the small wooden dolls from the ANG movie - and these had probably only been seen by Sunny.

So what Hitch found in Zephyr Heights is a zeppelin that had not been discovered, and which he uses to help his friends and save the kingdom. A zeppelin. Have wondered why the pegasi didn’t have planes, helicopters or even airships so far in G5.

So Cloudsdale and Zephyr Heights might become one common city in the future, and considering that the Storm arc - or the Zephyr Heights saga - ends in November, it’s possible that future G5 will make it canon in 2025. The future Queen Storm will be sure of her legacy, and the New Mane 6 will have moved on towards the top.

Right after MYM comes to YouTube (and soon after I change my avatar to Comet) is right when I finally have to reset the Comet counter. NO ONE saw this coming, NO WAY.

So I wonder if they bypass the biweekly schedule for the special or will it still be released 2 Thursdays from now?

For some reason, Sparky was credited with a different VA than usual in this episode even though he didn’t appear… And the Brazilian Portuguese dub kept the Work Work Work reprise in English, even though the song was dubbed back in season 1.

I’m pretty sure the song is not dubbed in any language and remain English in every version.

The overall episode eas nice.

Also shouldn’t the second special be this month? If not, then when it will be?

Yeah, unfortunately. As for the special, it probably will air next month.

I can’t believe he is back! got the feel that he might be in the second special aswell and this short is sort of a promotion for him after his long absence, but i’m glad he is not forgotten.

All we need is Sprout to return aswell.
