I feel nothing but pity for McCarthy. The rest of the show staff too, but McCarthy especially since she’s the scapegoat for every change that someone doesn’t like.

I like the show’s writers (well, almost all of them) but I’m aware of the way things have to work in their setting, so I take what they say with a grain of salt.

I prefer Meghan to Lauren.

I’m sick of seeing the same opinions everywhere in a fandom that apparently detests “hugboxes.”

Meh. My opinion is that’s she okay. I just wish we should would stop writing season openings/movies and such. She’s a okay writer and yes canterlot wedding was good, but how she said she thinks all girls want to be princesses flies like directly in Lauren’s face of what she was aiming for with the show.

I’d like to see her do a straight up Kaiju homage episode what with her being a huge fan of Godzilla. Oh and I don’t just mean Secret of My Excess, I mean a straight up tribute to classic Japanese monster movies with two giant beasties going at each other.

I think she’s doing a pretty good job with what she has, she probably needs to realize that the people she’s tweeting to are humorless stiffs that can’t take a single joke in stride and assume that she doesn’t care what they think.
 
She’s been tweeting less and less, so maybe she realizes that we’re not worth her time. Good.

And why must anyone care about whether or not the show aligns with Lauren’s initial idea?

Not sure if this is the right place to say this, but I think the show sometimes suffers from having too many writers. The main concept of the show is ponies learn lessons and become better people. But every member of the writing crew writes each character differently, and thus characterization is chronically inconsistent from episode to episode. I hate to say it, cause most of them seem like pretty cool people, but the show would benefit from laying off some of the writers.

I’d be inclined to agree, for the most part. There are some consistent traits that make it through, but each writer has their own view on how the characters would act. The editing process is apparently intensive, so at least there’s that.

But all cartoons have many writers. Even Avatar:TLA, which needs to be very consistent were written by a lot of writers.

The moment in Super Speedy Cider Squeezy when Applejack immediately accepted her friends help made me squee a little bit in joy; she had learned a lesson about this last season and it stuck with her! There should be more moments like that on the show, is what I’m saying.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is good cause it’s a slice of life and treats the characters like actual individuals who while some may be feminine, like rarity, or a tomboy, like rainbow dash, that’s NOT their sole definition as a character.
 
The problem is that if you start injecting characters whose sole purpose is to serve as a plot device and/or their defining characteristic is stereotypical non-compelling characters then the magic is lost.
 
What I am getting at is that the reason why MLP:FIM is good is that the characters are compelling and interesting, the problem with Meghan is that all but 3 characters she’s made have 0 personality(shining, cadance, chrysalis).
 
I’m worried about by season 5 or 6 rolls around we’ll have a ton more new characters introduced with no distinct personality to the point background ponies have more personality.
 
It’s already bad enough that Celestia has been relegated to nothing more than a plot device.

So people are apparently trying to doxx her and do…something I guess.
