I actually enjoyed the dub :V

The ending song is total garbage though, and has nothing at all to do with the plot of the show. There’s no shoujo crap in that show, as much as the Japanese want to think there is.

I’m just wondering what the crap was up with that live action bit at the end. I was kinda following it until the slot machine appeared, and after that I got nothing.

But MLP it’s NOT an anime, this is only another dub out of 1 million other, japaneses think they’re much better than us.

I liked the whole thing. Even the ending theme. >.>

I’ve just watched the ED. The Ponies’ Gallery was a good idea, summarizing the main cast and most common secondary characters for the kids to memorize (since they are based off foreign names that are more difficult for a non-English-speaker to remember). The FiM credit roll has always been straightforward, whereas Japanese anime is known for over-the-top ending sequences, so I was expecting it to be changed.
 
US dubs, espeically in the 90s, have been known for localizing dubs of anime quite heavily, so it most certainly isn’t one way.

Hopefully the Japanese make their own Pony fighting game in the place of FiM. I heard they’re pretty good at that, look at all the fan games they’ve made for various franchises.

I rather like the voices for all the characters. All of them, aside from Applejack, sound as I would have expected. I also like the OP and ED, and am perfectly familiar with their use in promoting artists/bands.
 
I’ve heard Bushiroad will eventually release uncut DVD’s of the show, but I don’t know if that’s true. It would make sense to do so, though, considering the editing in the TV broadcast.

They did try to make it anime-like by putting in J-Pop intro an ending, and the character name introduction was a nice touch.  
But the anime emoticons are whats missing.

I’m possibly the only one who cares, and I don’t know how good those subtitles are, but the part that stuck out to me was the dialogue that got changed.
 
Eg. that whole thing with spike not knowing how to spell “precipice” was just flat out changed.
 
I get why they did that. The whole joke being written very specifically to exploit an english word and it’s shorter synonyms probably wouldn’t translate at all.
 
The multitude of pony puns are all english specific too. (“Moon pony”? Really?)
 
Like I said, I’m not sure about the subtitles. So I’m curious about what any of this actually sounds like to someone who understands Japanese

They cut some parts from the episodes, like when Twilight thanks the pegasus for bringing her to Ponyville, when she’s on bed and looks at the moon, when there’s a small moment when princess Celestia shows up to be gone and all the ponies are like “What happened?“and Pinkie says some stuff, also the “To be Continued”  
We all can assume it was cut because of time limit(They’re fucking goddamn genius for adding long op and end)  
And it’s most probably that to happen to  
every  
other  
episode.

Japanese companies tend to be zealous when it comes to making decisions. They don’t really think ahead or grasp the reality of the situation and are notoriously stubborn.

I thought it was a good localization, the translation was pretty solid, but not everything made it over quite intact. The voice acting was good, and the talent did a good job of portraying the character’s personalities. I noticed a couple of the cuts, but nothing really important got left out. So, considering the need to cut the episode because of the airtime and extras they managed to keep the episode slightly more concise. It also is a pretty good reason for me to revisit the season 1 episodes I haven’t watched in a long while.  
Also, was it just me, or did they use the word “pittari” a whole bunch?

ehhh it’s pretty good dub. Couldn’t say it’s a bad dub though.
