How will I ever Take a Major Villain seriously With Discord around?

You Know The Major Villains Like Sombra and Chrysalis who come Every Premiere or sometimes Finales? those who want to take over equestria with a plan(Feeding off love, Eternal Night, Using the crystal Empire to weaken Equestria). How Will they ever be taken as a threat with Discord The Choas God around? Sunset worked because she was in another universe, but not all villains are going to fight the mane six in another universe.

If Discord were willing to be a reusable Deus Ex Machina, Magical Mystery Cure never would have happened.

True But If Nightmare won Everypony would have died except for Discord Sombra and herself But She would take care of Discord while hes still a statue and Sombra Wouldnt mind the eternal Night and just focus on The Crystal Ponies. If Discord won Nothing could have stopped him, If Chrysalis won she would hve gotten The Love she needs for her people and Left, If Sombra won All of equestria would have falled to A state of despair. But if the Next villain Won Like let us say tried to kill the mane six and actualy killed fluttershy Discord would murder him.

Simple, make him stay on the sidelines and essentially not give a damn.

Bring in Discord’s opposite number.

Simple. He just won’t give a crap and just eat chips while the villain is wreaking havoc.

I imagine that it’s a similar dynamic to Q and Picard; Q likes Picard enough by the end of the series to be willing to step in on his behalf, but knows that in the long-term it’d be better to let Picard decide his own fate. I suspect Celestia reached the same equilibrium.
 
That and it’s rather likely that nothing Discord can do naturally could be of any real benefit, since his magic seems tailor-made to cause mischief and mischief exclusively.

Unless it’s a world-ending villain, he probably won’t really care much at all. There’s a whole galaxy out there he can play god with, he’s not going to be hovering around Celestia or the elements ever minute.

I think that the OP meant that The Villin speech that villain would give Is not going to be taken seriously because if that villain wins Discord would just come, make sure fluttershy isnt in danger, If she is he saves the day and if she isnt he tells the mane six to take care and leaves

I think it’s the idea that if the heroes use Discord to fuck up reality to their whims, they’re only encouraging the use of chaos and using their new found friend more as a tool than an actual friend.

This is why Sombra came across as less threatening then he was supposed to. We know Luna and Celestia can beat him, so there was no real danger if Twilight lost. It was a paper thin test, and if Twilight failed the princesses could beat him. And since Discord can beat the princesses explicitly (and implicitly, anything not the elements) there’s no reason not to feel threatened by anyone anymore. Sure, he’s not going to constantly step in and solve anything, but Fluttershy is in no danger anymore, and you know she’ll guilt Discord into saving her friends if it comes down to it.

Or put herself in danger to get Discord to save her and her friends.
 
And I never really thought of Sombra like that. Though they didn’t know Sombra was back and kicking, so there was some threat to him. Especially since if he gets to the Crystal Heart, everything goes to pot.

Honestly it would be awesome to see Discord defeating a villain.

For all the story problems it brings, I agree unconditionally that that would be hilarious. Discord could beat them whenever he wants, but spends the entire episode screwing with them Looney Tunes style.

What makes it impossible to create a villain that would put of a fight with Discord?  
Also, you would think he would act serious after not being succeed, just like when Fluttershy didn’t fell for his corruption.

I dont know man, Celestia and Luna are out of shape since their been sitting On thier plots for 1000 years while Sombra Was spending those 1000 Years being filled with a Grudge. Also he might thought of a Way to defeat them, After all he had 1000 Years of free time so He could have found a way seeing how clever his traps are.  
And you hit the nail about The Next Villains Not being that threatning unless they somehow Manage to be stronger than Discord which is impossible Unless said Villain was a Rival of not the princesses but their parents Or even One Of Their Parents.

Aladdin could do 86 episodes after the movie even though he had a genie as his sidekick.

Although FiM’s method is different, as rather than giving a character a power-down, they prefer to just pretend they don’t exist.
 
Just assume we won’t even hear about Discord for the whole season, then he’ll be away working on some project of Celestia’s during the finale.

The Genie said outright that he lost a lot of his power when he was freed. Unless Discord gets an enormous power down, which would be odd, that doesn’t apply.
 
Even if he’s powered down, he could still just get the Manes to the Elements, which are the strongest power in the show.

They knew that Sombra was back. He was actually the only problem of note up north. Luna was talking to Celestia, saying that she would rather deal with Sombra herself than pass the responsibility off to someone else.

Simple: have him say something along the lines of “I said I’d stop bothering you. I never said I’d help you.”

Discord doesn’t even need to care for what ever happens to Equestria. You know, just as easily as he destroys things, he can easily “fix” everything with a snap fingers.

Now that I think about it Even if sauron got his hands on the one ring there are still 14 Valars and Eru waiting for him. But does that take away his threat status?

I haven’t read LotR recently enough to be sure, but wasn’t it said the consequences of them warring openly with Sauron would be worse then Sauron ruling uncontested? Same reason Gandalf dosen’t carry the thing or just magic blast everything in their way?
