With the new season started I feel like some characters are going downhill and vice versa. Seriously, what are they doing with Pinkie? It’s like she’s getting more childish and is REALLY becoming a comedic relief character.

Idk. The episodes people use to suggest that pov are written by the same two writers: McCarthy and Merriwether.  
So I’d say too soon to tell.

Pinkie Pie has been a walking punchline since her very first scene in the pilot. Nothing about that has changed.
 
In case you haven’t noticed from the past 40+ years of television, comic relief is all you can do with that character type, other than write a completely OOC clusterfuck like Party of One.

But people like completely OOC clusterfucks when they’re the complete opposite of what you’d expect the character to be/fulfill an anime girl stereotype.

The problem people have here is one of degree. They feel like Pinkie is becoming childish and hyperactive to the point where she’s obnoxious instead of entertaining.
 
I know you have difficulty identifying nuance in arguments, so I’m not going to hold your inability to see why some people might have a problem against you.

Is OOC-ness not a way to get a closer look at a character’s inner motives?

The only “degree” Pinkie Pie ever exhibited was “maximum lunacy”. She was obnoxious to begin with. Again, nothing has changed. Pinkie works when she’s applied in small doses - photobombing a scene for a momentary chuckle. When the saturation climbs any higher than that, she’s the moron in the room who needs a brickbat to the head. The only time someone like Pinkie Pie makes a valid lead or secondary character is if you’re running a balls-out, anything-for-a-cheap-laugh slapstick series like Animaniacs or Looney Tunes, where everyone is off-the-wall and you expect weirdness at all times.
 
I know you have trouble grasping the obvious, so I spelled it out for you this time.

i dont know whats going on whit rainbow dash, one chapter is all about honor and solid thinker and the next is a jerk that freaks out when stuff is happening ( ?? ) maybe be on the military is a good thing for her its a character that needs a lead and not thinking on her own … but this wasnt the way she was in s1 or 2

Don’t worry, Pinkie Pie will undoubtedly get her own episode(s) this season.

Pinkie’s always been like this, we’re just getting tired of her after three seasons.

tbh, I’m not sure why pinkiefans are too worried. Rarity is often characterized as a brat for jokes and humor, so it’s not like this sort of things is unheard of.  
That doesn’t make it good but it just means they’re trying to force comedy. Not the worst thing in the world.

The worst thing they could do is to make Pinkie cease all this shenanigans. She would to exist if she does.

That’s not a good sign, since what you are saying is that Pinkie Pie is essentially not a character, just a hollow plot device to deliever laughs, just like how Sombra was a hollow plot device to induce dread or some crap like that.

Not to be mean to Pinks but she is exactly that except in the few cases where she gets an episode, it’s been like that since day one.

There’s three characters I really want to see something done with in S4.
 
Fluttershy, now that she doesn’t have to be her Element constantly, should be something more than a doormat. I don’t know, just don’t make her learn the same lesson again.
 
Applejack needs characterization that isn’t about the farm or family very badly. It’s all she is at this point, and its getting a little weird.
 
With Spike, I just want them to be sympathetic to his character instead of using him for physical comedy constantly. I’ve talked before about how using him for that makes the ponies look terrible, but it’s true. Have him save the day again and be triumphant about it, have him get closer with Twilight and Rarity (in different ways), or go over his backstory. They’ve tackled bigger things than a slightly depressing and dark story of a dragon’s origin.

I think we’ll be seeing a lot of Assertiveshy if Discord makes as many appearances as things are panning out, so there’s that.

I really would want to know more about Fluttershy’s past. Out of the Mane 6, who are all generally have scant histories so far, we know next to nothing about Flutters’ background.

Background would be nice, yes. I don’t want constant Expositionramas, but occasionally they’re fine.
 
I think we’ve talked before about how Fluttershy’s parents could only be a few things to have her turn out the way she did, and ditto for Spike’s.

She’s the only pony out of the six who’s parents or relatives were never shown. Others had at least had minor cameos. But Flutters, other than that history with her cutie mark which was closely tied to Rainbow’s story, nothing. Well, Applejack’s parents were never shown either, but she has the most solid history so far explored in the show.  
I’m beginning to think Fluttershy is Dash’s step-sister.

She was constantly bullied so there’s that.
 
Step sister? Yeah it would be funny if it turned out one of the Mane Six was related to another. That Apples to the Core (not the title but it’ll do for now) gave me the idea that Pinkie Pie MIGHT be a distant relative of Applejack. It doesn’t help that the lyrics mention something about Apple kin when the group points to Pinkie to sing.
