Bronies who don't like the show?

Anypony else who just thinks the shows aren’t that great? They tend to be super unrealistic and contradict themselves a lot. The only reason I hang around as a brony is because of user made content.

If in any fandom you can’t be bothered to like the actual source material at all, then you’re little more than just a leeching bandwagoner.

I was one of those back in 2013. i pretty much only read the fanfics but had never watched the show.

Which baffles me as the show is the source for nearly all fandom stuff. Methinks OP has no idea how to have fun or kick back and relax.

That’s kinda like me. I initially was brought into the fandom because of the music/art/stories that the fans were producing. Eventually livestreams and the like brought me deeper into the fold, and I wound up watching all the eps during the episode premier streams. But, for a time, the fandom itself was enough to keep me interested.
 
And, I mean, we’re in a hiatus. If the fandom wasn’t producing enough content to keep us interested/occupied, most of us would probably be putting our participation in this fandom into hibernation.
 
Although, at the same time, there’s a lot of stuff in this fandom that is fun because of how it references the show. And if people don’t like the source material, then I imagine those bits won’t be nearly as enjoyable.

Personally I love the show itself, find Equestria Girls decent enough, and don’t like the comics. I’ve never read the chapter books nor enough fan fictions to really have an opinion of either.
 
As far as I’m concerned though, the only way to enjoy something the wrong way is to use it as a vehicle to be a dickhead to others (looking at you, Down With Molestia and others like that). Other than that, there’s no wrong way to be a fan. The fanbase as a whole is the great equalizer: a guy like me who loves the show and someone who loves the comics could just as easily be pals through the fanbase itself so long as we agree to disagree.
 
Heck, one day FIM is going to end 100% in an official capacity, and I hope we all can continue to be fans for a long time after through the fandom and subculture we’ve all kicked in to produce.

I know. Just, the way I see it is if that’s how someone enjoys it, then it’s totally fine in my books.

I’ve come across people like this. One example is you KuleDud3. Ever since my encounter with him, I’ve had a problem with it.
 
It just left a terrible taste… He said he didn’t watch it any more because “The characters are so overdone it makes me cringe”.

I don’t think he meant it that way. I mean, you interpreted it like that but all he asked was if anybody else thougzht the show wasn’t that great - which is, if anything, merely a sign of sane judgement. :p

I don’t know what kind of brony doesn’t like the show or at least something about it. But this fandom is so big that you could… find someone like that? I don’t know.
 
I still like the show, it has some great ideas and some great characters. It has flaws (and sometimes praised by mainstream opinion), but that happens with every show or movie.

Anyway, I have this answer for OP:

Hell, many of us are like that. Many of the “original bronies” were like that.
 
Maybe someone’d tell you if you don’t do this you’re not a ‘true fan’ or whatever; forget those guys. Shows how small and closed-up their world is.  
Forget them especially because they don’t realize they’re pissing where they’re eating, that we bronies, and especially creative people, are along for this for a variety of reasons and you’d be surprised how many you’d lose if you started culling the “not true fans”. We’re not like this. We never were about this. We are about inclusion.  
Person who does not know this has forgotten how to brony.
 
tea, for example, wrote a bunch of rude & ignorant stuff - “worst type of fan” “leech” “idiot”.  
Truth is? Person who think it’s only about worshipping a stupid kids’ show, those people are the real idiots.  
It’s about what YOU do and find in it.  
It’s about doing something together with your friends.  
It’s about finding the creative side in yourself that’ll do silly things like overtaking a big project over something pointless like an analysis vid or art or a site.  
It’s about giving your best because why not, because life is just so damn short but if you just give your all for something stupid, you’ll inspire others to think they should give their all, too.
 
MLP as a catalyst could have been anything really, though multicolor horses have a way of advertising “I’m bright and friendly and unashamed about it” better than most things do.

We have too many self apponted “Fandom vigilantes” making their business what other people think about the franchise and deciding by themselves what’s the correct way to “enjoy” it.
 
Clear water breeds no fish. A fandom without discontent elements only breeds stale things.

You’re missing the point entirely. Fans honestly should critisize the stuff they like. But a “Fan” that has no love for the source material said fandom spawns from in the first place isn’t really a fan at all.
 
I don’t know how you enjoy fan things when you dont like what said fan things come from. It’s a completely alien concept.

I don’t enjoy the franchise as I used to, but I still keep an eye on it on the chance that eventually they produce something enjoyable again.  
Meanwhile, fanmade things still use to give me the old warm feeling of the old series, so I’m a fan of them. How exactly being a fan of fanmade content can affect other people’s enjoyement of the official series is something I can’t understand.

I stopped watching the show mid S3, the when it jumped the shark.

It’s not really that outlandish that some fan material can be more enjoyable than the canonical material. I mean, fan projects can go places that canon writers could only dream of. Fewer restrictions give way to more diversity in what can be produced and so can appeal to a larger audience.
 
So some fanon can be more interesting than some canon…
