Areas Everywhere!

I was just wondering about a few theories and then it hit me.  
Are there any legendary places out there (not just Equestria)?  
Ancient civilizations?  
Majestic areas?  
Magical places?
 
Wouldn’t it be awesome if there some kind of history behind those mysterious locations?
 
Here’s my area:-
 
Sunset Edge  
Located at the eastern edge of Equestria, it is home to many powerful unicorns blessed with the ability called “Celestia’s Shadow”. It grants them an advantage when using fire-type magic. Sunset Shimmer was from this place but moved to Canterlot at the age 8.

Well, ponies are evidently not native to the land of Equestria. I guess the surface were once populated mostly by creatures such as the Diamonds Dogs and the Buffaloes which the ponies recently had conflict with.
 
I’d blow my mind if they could pull of an oriental theme. I mean C’mon, we have Native Americans(Buffaloes), African(Zebra), and Arabian(Horses), but no Asians yet? Unless you count that “Chinese” merchant from Magic Duel, in that case, Asians are confirmed to be Ponies, like Equestrians. Other medias managed to pull off Japanese culture, why not FiM?
 
I’d imagine that the Ponies in Hearth Warming Eve came from the Old World, like some sort of Pony “Europe”, or something.
 
Sacred Jade Empire  
Basically China… But the name sort of reflects that of the RL Holy Roman Empire, except Chinese instead of German.
