The complete lack of awareness exhibited by the corporations and such are staggering. It’s the embodiment of the whole “No one: | Literally not a soul: “ meme.

Clear and defined rules that only apply to specific situations instead of very vague blanket rules for this would help clear the air in the current political climate with everything going on rn, leave no room for vagueness.
 
vagueness is the problem, the potential scope of the rules is largely the issue in reality, my proposal would leave the site more or less the same as it was before all of this.

Man I was going on a long rant about how I am a centrist and not alt right, and that it was disingenuous to make the link (I’m not american and the “alt right” seems like an invented label made by the 2016 election to easily labelize/dismiss a group of people just like gamergate was) but that’d deviate too much the thread. I sortof agree with you though. The management of this has been woefully bad and they still are not doing anything at all.

I’m going to ask, what kind of conversation are you providing to this thread? Aside from your rather obvious baiting, are you actually trying to provide any fruitful discussing? Otherwise, I think your time would be better spent elsewhere.

We’ve found common ground with people on the left and right, guys. Let’s not give in to what detractors want and start nitpicking the minor detours our ideologies have. There are things bigger than us.

I want to approach this issue with empathy and a change to the rules that only covers art with the most overt and hateful, obvious, clear to anyone with a brain bigotry, instead of a huge blanket rule that can potentially affect a shittone of artists just for being edgy.
 
Now, everyone on all sides might still be a bit pissed in the end, but it’s a healthy compromise that restores the site more or less to what it was before and results in very very very very little real censorship, only banning blatant, clear, obvious, hateful propaganda instead of like, any edgy pic with nazi imagery or anything a little too edgy in other ways.

Sadly I doubt it, now that he tasted twitter. We have come to a point where being political on twitter and having an audience lead to self fulfilling loop: Acting like a “”“moral guardian””” gave him an audience, so now he must satisfy this audience by looking for all of the outrage he can find about the fandom everywhere to show he’s fighting the good fight. He can’t “give up” now because that’d mean losing the moral guardian audience he acquired.
 
Might be overexagerating the numbers for him but that’s what happen to most people on twitter (and elsewhere too) on all side of the aisle: They pick a cause and will stick by it no matter how much concession the other side does because being outraged brings so much crowd nowadays.

I’m proposing actual solutions, mods have posted on /mlp/ asking for actual solutions that appease everyone, maybe not completely, but importantly as I stated:  
1: the site remains pretty much the same as before  
2: more horrific examples of bigotry that barely existed before are now not welcome, again, this doesn’t really affect 99.9% of art, probably even less, those that had issues with this content are now at least partially appeased by some actual action by moderators  
3: the rules are clear and defined, there is no potential blanket vague rules that can apply to thousands of images easily.

Find a standard for that that everyone will agree to. You can’t. The only sensible option is “everything legal goes”. There’s no ruling for censorship that will be used consistently and won’t be abused by ideologues. Again, there is no room for compromise on this.
