The Anti-Censorship DNP Pledge

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

@TinyEquine
I fully support Derpibooru's right to decide what is hosted on their site.

But that's the point — Staff didn't decide, It was the media outlets. The staff decided many years ago how to handle that(spoiler — it involved filtering).
When additional material is banned, please handle it better than you handled this incident.

I hope outrage will in such be greater so nothing more will be censored.

I was on the fence about it since I use this as an archival site and all my old and shitty uploads showing gradual improvement over the years have some pretty big sentimental value to me, but I gave this some thought these past couple of days and sent my DNP in now as well.

I want neutral mods who apply rules fairly and equally, not whatever the fuck this is leading towards.

I hope censorship would stop too but i know it wont. As long as SJWs, commies and Twatter exists or doesnt grow some spines, censorship will continue. Its like these people really want some huge fucking civil war.

Please don't make excuses for the staff. "Media outlets" did not dictate policy or define the actions to be taken.

On a side note, what is this pillowfort I keep seeing posted?

To add onto what soundtea said, it's a place which lets you blog about/look up just about anything. I don't know how effective it is at finding new artists like on DB, and I am very skeptical about it defending freedom of speech under pressure. Still though, it's a door that should be kept open.

Here is a take by an anon on /mlpol/ if you're at all interested.
>it would most likely ban Aryanne anyway
You're probably right.

Just checked it out. Only a little bit. The terms of service are in the company's favor. Anything that incites violence or disparages any group is viable to be banned ect.
Basically they can kick anyone out at anytime for any reason.
Signing up means you agree to them collecting data on you.
All fairly normal stuff.
Good news using the url to search 'anonymously' works.
Trying to figure out how exactly to phrase it for multi search is going to take more time than its worth.
It's five dollars per activation key.
Con: no easy site access besides the basics unless you understand what is going on.
From what I've seen it's mostly leftist crap or it's apolitical. I haven't yet seen any thing there in support of us.
However it does have vintage, historical, and neutral stuff.
Normal mlp stuff. The fetishes.
Anonymously you will see it all.
It does allow someone to block and hide any users if you sign up so they won't be seen (all the gay porn, and other degenerate stuff)
There is loli/shota, and all that kind of pictures/writing. More than anything politically positive.
Making an account and posting the horse pussy of politics on there would be possible. I'm not sure it's worth it.
It's tumbler/twitter, but with nsfw content as well.

The historical and vintage searches were interesting and fairly safe. Besides the vintage erotica.
Cooking is a mixed bag because it also brings up fetishes.

Searching germany does bring up the plants and animals there. Specific flowers, photos, and that's about it. Very extensive botanical poster.

tbh i agree. archival is important, but there's more sites than just derpibooru. if nothing changes, we can just request our art to be removed from this site and post elsewhere. that's what i'm gonna do at least

That would be incredibly interesting to see how "media outlets" wrested control and / or drugged the staff and / or offered them a deal they could not refuse and / or whatever goes into coercing them to make a policy change.

Please do not make excuses for the staff. The administrators / staff / owners of this site made a decision to change policy. I'll accept a claim that it was under pressure from outside organizations, but that does not mean they did not make the decision. It does not excuse them from how they executed their decision.

Oh I'm certainly not disregarding actual freewill, but there was certainly some coercion in place. Precisely as you said, they caved to the pressure.

Why is it any better that the administrators would cave into the demands of outsiders rather than stand up for their users? I know it's just an online pony community, but any sort of leader should have some backbone.

but that does not mean they did not make the decision.

Let me reiterate — they did NOT made that decision.
It was the media who did and staff had 2 chocies — either tell outsiders to fuck-off or cave in.
They caved in.
If they wanted to make that decision "on their own" then they had MANY YEARS for that.

They caved to one article that went to a known hypocrite trying to play to the twitter crowd to pad out the content on top of most of the staff being unaware until they logged in for the day. This isn't just a power grab by a few of the mods, this is open collusion.

If this is truly the case, it sounds like this whole issue needs to be exposed and an airtight, fact-based, rebuttal of the media needs to be written.
A media website blackmailing, or even coercing, a small fandom image hosting website would certainly be quite the story.

How can censorship be bad if it is only used to stop hate-speech and propaganda?

When people are given the freedom to make their own life choices, they will continue to learn which choices are beneficial, and which are harmful to both society and themselves. When people only see what control-groups want them to see, and have no freedom of choice, they will lack the discernment to make good choices in the future. When an extremist group offers them answers, they won't know any better, and may join them out of ignorance. We should not be afraid of propaganda or try to hide it from people; let them see it and decide for themselves.

New extremist groups will continue to appear, and they will not be as obvious as some outdated WW2 socialist party. People won't even realize they are an extremist group until they've been following the shepherd for years. This is happening right now, everywhere in the world, as it always has been. The core defense against these potential new extremist groups is to help people understand which groups are good and bad, and you accomplish this by always giving them a choice so they can figure it out for themselves. Sailors will drown if not taught to swim, no matter how hard you try to hide the ocean from them.

The choice is obvious to me: and it's not an extreme choice, it's the most reasonable one. There is really no middle-ground here, just a gradual (and arbitrary) scale from most freedom to least freedom. Having more control seems appealing in the sense that you can snuff out bad things and promote good things, but much like giving a man fish rather than teaching him to fish, you're taking away their opportunity to figure things out for themselves. I do strongly believe that censorship has no place on this pornographic art archive of a little girl's toy commercial, in any way shape or form.

You're contradicting yourself. Suppressing, but allowing free choice?

It's funny, you're basically describing a lot of modern and actively supported movements in your second paragraph who are actively looking to suppressing the freedom of speech of "privileged" people. But that's neither here nor there.

I don't see the contradiction. He's saying that we need to let people make their own choices in life, and if they fail, they fail. The best we can do is provide unbiased education and information to them.
We should not be afraid of propaganda, but instead, let people see the issues with it and defeat it for themselves.
