Personally, I think it's sad it came to this, but I did mention it would happen 2 weeks ago. I never felt worse for being able to say I told you so.

I seriously hope it can still be reversed, but if there is one thing I've learned on the internet, it's that when people give in to SJW demands, it's never turned back

There is a problem and the alarming amount of defending, justifying and false equivocating here is down right scary. No defending and rights for the people who have to live with the nazi messaging and the effects of targeting of course.

How is allowing people to freely express themselves a problem? This also allows you to criticize them, the fact people like you pop up and try to defend censorship as something necessary and good is what frightens me.

I will also be doing a DNP, I'm not happy at all with how all of this has transpired. As an artist, I despise censorship of art and expression, no matter what it is, and choosing to side with one and censor the other is hypocritical.

I'm sad that it's come to having to do this, and I'm sad that an archival site for ponies is choosing to be political over a loud mouth individual and some untrustworthy sensational news outlets that know nothing about us. All of this, is only tearing us apart as a fandom and accelerating the fandom's death. It's ironic though now, that the pony being banned, for everything she is parodying, is becoming the symbol of free speech on Derpibooru.

We really dealt with a lot from this site over the years. That sudden anthro foalcon ban comes to mind.
The arbitrary bans and deletions that happen due to the infamous "rule 0" that basically amounts to "whatever we feel like that day".
Then the BLM decision that is apparently permanent now (?).

Now this.

I can see where this is going, I have seen it probably a dozen times before in other communities.

I have absolutely no faith that this will be the last of these decisions. The rules will just become even more annoying and restrictive, and they will be used as a weapon against users even moreso than they are already being used.

Its so sad.
To the very few who decided on this:
Either you are unknowingly letting nefarious actors harm this website and split the community, or you were in cahoots with them all along, and that article was just the excuse you needed. I don't know if your intentions are pure anymore, and that in itself is already tragic and a sign that something has gone incredibly wrong somewhere.

I hope this ends soon, one way or the other.

This is going to be hidden behind and broad-stroken as censorship, convenient. Do you own the IP and can use the platform freely like you're suggesting? Why so hard on the hill of nazism?

You can dress up what you're doing as much as you like but at the end of the day words and actions are interconnected. You can say defending the people yet the actions you're focus on and repeat in the past puts people down; even the way you run the mods down here is disturbing. The reaction proves there is a problem and there needs to be change. What form it takes should be discussed but inaction furthers the problem. That's all I'm going to say.

I Put in DNP request as well, I'm new on the art scene and don't have much invested here, which is unfortunate, as I wanted to be one of those artists who reached the top scoring every time I uploaded and really be apart of this community as an artist. However, I would much rather none of my future art be uploaded here rather than being forced to draw CCP compliant images

Derpibooru has forgotten its purpose as an archive site, to remain neutral and archive anything pony, instead, like many platforms now, their hubris has gotten the better of them.

I will NOT let anyone lecture me on my morals, and I will NOT let anyone lecture me on what to draw.

This hasn't soured my taste in pony or this fandom, and I will continue to draw and participate in both, just not here.

Because it's not nazism.
Because you're utterly, bafflingly convinced everyone you disagree with is a nazi, and that proves both disingenuous, because it shows you're utterly deep in tribalism, and plainly false, because of artists here against it who have never drawn nazi imagery of any sort. Go on. Check my gallery.
Because one person's obscenity is another person's art, and if you don't stand up for the obscenity, by the time they come for your art you've already lost.

I'd rather hear something more concrete from the staff about what this all means before jumping to this. Like I've stated before, it's been a huge transparency issue. All of this is people running around and arguing over something we have very little information on.

Overall, I think the people running this site have been good more often than they've been bad, and I have faith that they'll be able to figure out something that satisfies as many as people as possible.

Thats why none of us are removing our existing artwork, I believe that in Derpibooru's hubris they have deemed themselves to be the arbiters of what is morally just, I'm against that in any capacity. even if they back peddle in an effort to save themselves they have lost my trust, How am i supposed to trust them to not meddle with shit in the background like they did with shadow banning? when I know their agenda is more important than their service to the fandom.

To be honest the best solution would be adding the nazi and other political tags hidden by default in all the kind of filters. This would remain totally neutral and no one would be pushed by the "evil nazism" or "the evil SJW", if you wanted a political stance you're forced to add it to your filter to WATCH that tag.
With this no one will be tempted by politic in any kind of side, they need to search the politics by their own volition. Watching that tag will be totally their choose and the blame will be totally in their side.
No one will be tempted to turn into a nazi for the cute pictures of Aryanne if you block the nazi tag for everyone by default, there is no promotion if the people that don't know about her never search for her.
Same with all the other kind of politics like BLM, ACAB, socialism and more.
The best decision would be this place totally apolitical and let the userbase to stay in their side by their own choice

Go back to 4chan if you want your hate speech.
No reason why a nazi pony should have been popular in the first place except for irony.

It was never a site like that. It has always had things it did not allow to be posted here, and that would be immediately deleted if you tried.

Nothing about the ban does either of those things. No one is lecturing, no one is saying you can't still draw whatever you want. You simply cannot upload certain things here, which was always the case for various types of "art".

And the decision to not allow something on this platform is entirely within their right to do, and always has been. They are not obligated or required to allow you to put up whatever you want. No privately owned site on the internet is.

Cos just like we aren't forced to post here (even though, since it currently AT THIS TIME has little in the ways of competition, we basically are), they are not obligated to our art.

Thank you for providing an update. I understand that for the mod team this is not a simple decision, even if it may seem that way to us. I just hope that the ultimatum that the team comes to is backed up by cited scientific evidence & data and that, if there is to be censorship, it should be done for reasons that are more than just personal feelings and speculation.

I agree with you to a point. But I am perfectly okay with enforcing things such as vaccination because of the overwhelming amount of scientific evidence indicating that it is imperative that enough of the population get vaccinated in order to establish herd immunity.

If there was just as much empirical evidence showing that somehow looking at cute pictures of a nazi horse could desensitize me and lead me more readily accept actual Nazi beliefs, then I would likely be in the other camp.
There isn't, as far as I'm aware, but if one does not approach a debate with an open mind, then neither will their opponent.

They are the ones enacting the censorship, they are the ones with the burden of proof to show that their claims that this is in any way 'better for the community' have a basis in scientific fact. I am simply clarifying that the bar they must reach is incredibly high, and that failing to reach it would likely ruin whatever trust the community has left in them.

You are definitely right about the issue being transparency. From a user standpoint, there's little to no accountability for how a moderator uses their authoritative flex. Furthermore, seeing moderator discussion being alluded to but still hidden from the public eye doesn't look good either. Shouldn't the community be able to listen in on these discussions? Sadly, I think there is now turning back now. If the rules are reverted, then we'll most likely see those currently celebrating the ban turn and create their own DNP pact. Be it by intentions malicious or not, the schism has been torn wide open and there's no way to keep both sides anymore.

To all those looking to migrate and to those who aspire to organize positions of authority in their future endeavors, take note of what happened here. Listen to your community, keep things open between the entirety of your staff, and establish concrete rules that are fair to the entirety of your user base. Most importantly, do not be afraid to engage your supposed enemies. You'll be surprised at the unlikely friends you'll make and the lessons that comes with that friendship. Good luck to all of you!
