laws
Nof the UK were only part of it, due to the fact that I (UK based and someone who gave a shit about the usual treatment of anyone even remotely close to loli - computers seized, job/life destroyed, and that's the best case scenario) was involved in the site.
Many major countries have similar laws, and viewing is "enough" legally speaking. If the new operators of the site want to let those in countries where those laws do _not_ apply put at risk the safety of those _using_ the site, then that's up to them, but I always viewed it as an issue for end users that a significant percentage of those using the site would be put at material risk by a more permissive content policy.
Changes to the rules around this are most of the reason why I quit as an administrator of the site. I just occasionally browse for some good 'ol fashioned tentacle porn these days.
