AH! There it is. It is fine in Preview, but when rendered on the site the colon gets eaten and becomes an indent. Replicated :)

Perhaps you encountered posts from Russian users who skip the : character?

This happens when a line that starts with a colon follows an empty line. (Unless nothing precedes the empty line, in which case the empty line just doesn’t exist.)

Escaping the colon fixes this, although the “escape” tool button doesn’t escape colons.

Escaping the new line right before the colon also works; it gives a slightly little different spacing. (As an escaped newline does.)

Unless I escape: nope escape isn’t working either 🤷

I have actually reported the issue with colons before. I figured out when it happens, but not why.

You need to escape the colon manually by placing a \ before it.
You type it like this: \:) and it should be normal.
