Perhaps that also means that reverse searching with a WebP is guaranteed to return 0 results, even if the image is on the site.

Yes, except for that one of my reference links is already a feature request for it, so another wouldn’t really be needed.
I guess the fact that the site doesn’t pop up any kind of error or warning when you try to reverse search from an unsupported file (whether WebP or something absurd like txt or mp3) is a half-bug-half-feature-request…
[edit] WebPs preview fine because the preview just hotlinks the file on your own computer that you’re about to upload, which a browser can display, of course.

Additionally, any image with more than ~1000 tags seems to get automatically tag/source locked, presumably for that exact reason. Can the staff disprove me on this? I couldn’t find anything on the matter on the Github Repo…
And please add a warning when linking to NSFW images.
This. Linking to onsite images like >>1337 and so on works best.

This does not apply to site bugs, I just noticed that someone is engaged in wrecking - someone put a lot of extra tags. I don’t know where to write about this

Situation with this tag spammer is a lot worse than you may think at first sight, check for example changes story of oc:bay breeze tag, someone constantly adding thousands of most popular ‘cute’ tags for as many shocking NSFW images as they can find.

Seems like the auto-lock should kick in WAY before a thousand tags. Heck, it should be trivial to make it rate-dependent, as well, e.g. more than X tag changes in Y minutes/hours/days – probably only needed for existing images, not new ones.
I know it’d ruffle feathers, but perhaps differing rates for existing users vs BgPs as well, since the latter are almost always the ones behind these issues?

It’s automatic at 1000 AFAICT, see here if you want examples.
EDIT: The number is actually 360 or thereabouts. This isn’t mentioned anywhere on Github and staff have ignored all my queries on the matter. Don’t know why that is… Why the secrecy?

There’s currently a rate limit between tag change requests, no matter the number of tags involved in that single update. I believe there’s no different rate for accountless vs. signed in, but accountless users should have to solve CAPTCHAs every time in addition, unless there’s an exploit.
(You can see from the record of tag changes that the vandal does them with about 1-2 minutes between. I dunno if they have a bot or are just that bad of a no-lifer.)
Accounts can be given the ability to make changes bypassing the rate limit.
A limit based on quantity of tags changed in an update also seems like a good idea but why are we talking about this in the bug thread instead of in the feature suggestion thread?
