Hell, you don’t even need a tablet to draw, I’ve literally used copy paper and office supplies to draw before.

True, but at the same time I’d say drawing with a mouse is not very intuitive and while skill matters way more than what equipment you use, there does come a point where equipment can limit you. There’s no pressure sensitivity with a mouse, so smooth and steady lines, and smooth shading will be very difficult.
But removing at least 80% of all limitations equipment-wise is as simple as just picking up a relatively cheap tablet, with the remaining 20% being colour accuracy from your screen. When I started I was using a laptop that had poor colours, but colour accuracy is almost completely irrelevant for sketching and lineart.
If someone chooses to upgrade to a screen tablet later, it’s all about making their hobby or job of drawing more enjoyable and intuitive at that point, rather than removing limitations.

Vectors, pixel art, 3d modeling/posing, none of these rely on drawing ability. And I cannot draw, but I can make art without AI. That’s my whole point. Vectoring or doing pixel art with a tablet would be detrimental. There’s all kinds of art one can make, Crafts like sewing or sculpting also don’t rely on pencils or tablets.

I feel like this dialogue is off the topic of the thread, but
I’ve been drawing using a mouse for my first few years. This was made in the classic Windows XP Paint using a mouse. This was made with a mouse, too. I only got my first tablet in 2020. My sister still draws with a finger on her phone screen. We as humans can adapt to any tool, and use whatever medium we have to make cool art–heck, you could just lay out pebbles on the coast into a mosaic, and as long as you know what you’re doing, you can make something awesome with it.
AI is a great tool, yeah, but it can’t substitute drawing experience and skill. Raw AI-generated images ≠ art, rather just ideas. But carefully thought-out, curated, and inpainted AI images kinda are art, that’s why AI composition is a thing that stays on the site. You can learn photo editing and inpainting skills to perfect your AI-generated images and still upload them to derpi, and be more proud of yourself, because you actually worked on the pieces, not just clicked “dream” button over and over again.

It’s because that exact same question of “what’s the reason for this policy change?” has been asked multiple times and explicitly answered multiple times. The FAQ wasn’t initially there in the OP, but it’s been there for a good while now and people are still asking the same question.
Wouldn’t you eventually get mildly to moderately annoyed if you had to repeat yourself over and over and over again? It was a valid question that I myself was also wondering about the answer to when I heard about this, but failing to read the OP before complaining about something that is answered by OP isn’t a good look for someone. There’s a difference between asking for clarification on specific parts or sharing your opinion, and asking the same question that’s been asked.
Staff are overwhelmed by the amount of moderation required for AI content - it’s taking up 80% of their time despite only accounting for up to 15% of daily uploads. More AI images will be uploaded as AI gains popularity and becomes more accessible, so this issue is only going to get worse, not better. It’s not a case of “just filter it” when you’re moderating, because you need to be able to respond to image reports, especially if for whatever reason something actually illegal is uploaded. If you just filter and ignore stuff as a staff member, that’s a huge legal liability considering anyone can upload anything to this site at any time.

@Jewellier
I’m actually quite impressed, especially by your second piece as it’s not even just good art considering it was done with a mouse, it’s just good art full stop. I’d never be able to guess.
I’m kinda curious to know how you did it if you remember your process, although I’ll send you a DM about it when I get a chance as that would go too far off-topic

Can you do another FAQ what counts as AI composition and what not? I read the current FAQ and it only has example about the quality. I understand that but not for example what counts as “a large number of inpainting”. Does changing the position of hands count as a Large number of inpainting? Adding another character to a scene count? What about where I have “twin images” where the pose is the same but the characters are swapped. One of them is just prompted with getting the details right. The other is heavy inpainted to change the character without breaking the pose. So image A is not a AI composition but the other is?
I also don’t know what “pinterest spoils” means.
I have so many more image to image related question.

Have you read the description on the tag itself? If that doesn’t help, then please look at this previous answer to a similar question.

Raw AI Generations will no longer be permitted.

I assume you are asking about this in the first post:
Photobashing is a digital art technique that combines multiple photos and other digital elements or effects to create a new image. It is like a digital version of creating a collage. Google has many examples and tutorials that may help you

@truekry
I’d imagine you’ll get a mod reply sooner or later but I’ll at least start keeping some “checkpoints” e.g. First generation, then whatever I handpaint on or significantly inpaint, and with each pass as I am happy, I’ll keep one of those images before I move to the next detail.
Of course, might be more challenging depending on the environment you work in but checkpoints would be most logical in my opinion.

After the ai images are deleted from derpi, will there be redirect put in place so the old links still work and will go to tantabus instead?
I feel like that would be a good idea to have.

For newer stuff I kept my initial generation, so the first thing that was “generated” based on the prompt used or/and my sketch. Keeping several iterations of everything sounds daunting, to say at least (to organize it all). That why I asked. What kind of proof would be preferred, if any is needed. So far, there is nothing in the rules, only what level of quality is to be expected. If I meet those criteria, then is everything fine? Or do I have to proof what I did every time someone reports me because he doesn’t like AI, etc…
