Yeah, upvotes have never really meant ‘quality’, only “I like this”. Same applies to downvotes really.
People can claim otherwise, but they know what the reality is, in that “I like this” or “I don’t like this” and That’s fine, that’s normal. You don’t go around social media website of choice and like all the posts you find to be ‘quality’. I mean, maybe someone does, and maybe there are people here who solely vote on what they believe an image’s inherit quality, or lack thereof, is. But everyone is inherently biased, so I don’t think that would ever even be true. It’s okay to just say “I really like these images”.

Score is not something we care about. Because yes, a half-hearted doodle of a fan favourite canon character with their boobs out will almost always significantly outscore an amazingly rendered but obscure fetish image with an OC.

If you click the links on them, you’ll see that the images are on DeviantArt and were generated for the purpose of showing typical errors.
We’re not singling out any individual uploader or creator. And generating images that showed the errors was … well … sometimes as easy as asking for an image without the error. Creating unique images that weren’t associated with any creator seemed the best way to do it.
This is ridiculous. In a few years, AI is going to be indistinguishable from human artists, and the only way to know will be if the prompter confesses. If you don’t like AI art, just filter it.

I never said upvotes were a 100% accurate judge of the quality of an image. But I have been watching the favorite and upvote counts of ai images for the past few months, the site for years, and there is an obvious pattern of either more creative or better looking images receiving roughly higher numbers compared to low effort or simply lower quality images. If they mean nothing why have a way to sort by upvotes. I could also usually predict how images of my own would perform, and sometimes some would shock me and I could focus on the details users appeared to like more. Regardless of what you think, it was something I used, and is being removed without a good reason or input from the actual userbase.

Another curiosity question.
Since reports on AI images dominated the new queue, do any staff have gut feelings on the below buckets the reporters fell into?
  1. AI haters looking up stuff they know they’ll hate so they can be hall monitors
  2. Other AI artists reporting the substandard work of their rivals to reduce competition
  3. All other personality profiles
  1. I’m trying this on Firefox. When you ran it on Chrome, was there any indication of progress as it did its work? Would like some visual cue to see if it worked or not.
  2. Strongly recommend pinning a link to your post I replied to (or a fresh forum topic with the contents of the post reposted) on the site banner from 16 Dec–5 Jan.
  3. I sure hope it works in Firefox, as spinning up a new Chrome profile for pony purposes would feel as dirty as looking up porno at work (because, in a way, it is: Firefox is my bong-stained living roo; Chrome is my office; Safari is the shopping cart).

Looks like you didn’t read the OP.
The investigative work required for this alone was taking hours upon hours from moderator’s day every day. And we as moderators can’t “just use filters” and have a blind eye to rule breaking content.

Perspective on the pros and cons of derpi splitting and AI art in general (I wanna support both human artists and novel AI creativity beyond human comprehension a lot at the same time) and IMO the causes of all this specific and broader resistance:
IMO:
splitting is bad from:
  • my personal site usage perspective (loss of centralized browsing interface for all types of images)
  • future of much more potentially novel different AI art getting less traction perspective, I wanna see machine creativity beyond human comprehension
  • increasing polarization between humans and AI
  • certain artists perspectives
  • moderator perspective (making some stuff harder)
good from:
  • moderator perspective (making some stuff easier)
  • certain artists perspectives (humans getting more traction, supporting their livelihoods, etc.)
  • usage of the site by others with different preferences
etc.
It feels to me that the recent resistance wave is largely a consequence of:
  • some people using it for spamming and total memorization instead of novelty, I wish more people would strive for as unique novel creations as possible
  • corporations and some people maximizing money instead of creativity
  • competition problems
  • philosophy of art, where a lot of people see the process by humans that leads to that result as the most important part of art, where I personally find that similar but different machine process similarly fascinating, meaningful, sacred for other reasons… Which I notice a lot of people just have different feelings about, but for me it’s largely a result of how I like to daily explore how various AI models (for all sorts of things) work internally in terms of theory, practice, engineering, math, and I find it extremely fascinating :D
  • broader feelings from broader AI resistance because of broader potential for job loss, corporations giving it bad reputation, concentration of power, etc.

It almost constantly tries to write stuff on the page and touches a window which should open automatically after clocking “Process”.
Script is designed for one-time execution, so while I’m looking why it may fail on Firefox, may just be easier to use it in incognito mode in chrome.
