@Grapefruit Face
Let me try a different approach. I’ll try to stick to only things you’ve said publicly on the site.
Just because you’re a “moderator” doesn’t mean you’re always right.
I never claimed to be right. I don’t even know what ‘right’ means in the context of what you are doing.
Before you call me delusional and tell me “tHeY’rE nOt rEaL, gEt oVeR iT” just hear me out.
They aren’t real. Trixie is a cartoon character.
Every person on this site - millions of people a month - are welcome to have Trixie as their Waifu.
This cuts to the heart of why we keep asking you to confine your role playing to the RP forums. When you role play on other people’s art that their relationship with Trixie is somehow threatening to your ‘wife’, you end up attacking real people in real ways, because of a pretend relationship.
If you do that in the RP forums, no problem. That’s what they’re there for.
But when you harass other artists or other users because of your pretend relationship with a cartoon, that’s a real problem.
bullying ponies without proper constructive / critique should be a violation of Rule #0, #6, and #4.
Setting aside the ‘bullying’ component, because it’s not clear you can ‘bully’ a cartoon, especially given that much of some of these cartoon’s existence consists of what some would consider ‘being bullied’, there are comments that are posted that are deleted for Rule #0, #6, and #4.
But, for us, the Rule #0 is when you attack another person.
The Rule #4 is when you whinge on about the theme of an image, or complain about someone showing your ‘waifu cartoon’ in the loving arms of some other cartoon.
And Rule #6, in your case, often is because you are role playing on someone else’s art.
Here’s some comments, which I’ve reported yet moderators have looked at them and have deemed them fine
I didn’t work most or apparently any of those reports, but let’s take one at random:
Oh how I hate Trixie.
The comment is on a humorous image of Trixie being a little shid to Twilight. So, the comment seems pretty on topic for the image. I think though that their subsequent comment was probably approaching Rule #4:
But, the comment is still arguably on topic and in keeping with the rest of the discussion on that image, some of which the artist participated in.
However, your reply to them was definitely rule breaking.
The only ‘random shit talking pony’ here is you.
You aren’t addressing a cartoon character. You’re addressing another user of the site.
If you had done this in the RP forums, in the context of a role play, it would have probably been fine. You doing that on someone else’s art where it is clear you are addressing that person, personally, is Rule #0.
If I said these things about an OC I’d be censored and banned.
Not necessarily true. People say un-constructive and critical things about some OCs all the time. There’s several OCs who are in that realm of ‘lil shids’ who are intentionally annoying or offensive or simply foils - I’m sure you can think of several.
Where we get involved in those kinds of comments on OC art is when someone is systematically complaining about a character, or trying to attack the owner in the case of a ‘ponysonna’ through their OC.
That said, OCs are not the person who created them. There is a difference. Just as your oc:grapefruit face
is not you.
Someone not liking oc:grapefruit face
is not an opinion about you. They can critique the hair or color of the coat or cutie mark (assuming you have a cutie mark - I haven’t looked) and that’s not a critique of you.
And someone attacking your OC because they don’t like your OC having a particular cartoon waifu, or because they think your OC is not ‘good enough for’ or is somehow disrespectful to their cartoon waifu, is also not an attack on you.
I’ve been unfairly banned enough already.
Your personal information is personal. So please stop trying to make a case about this publicly, unless you’re actually ok discussing your bans publicly.
If you are ok discussing your bans publicly, name the ban that you think was ‘unfair’, and I’ll know you’re ok with me saying exactly what the ban was for.
Furthermore I’ve been attacked here
This is where it gets super weird, and why we keep asking you to stop role playing outside of the RP forums.
GRAPEFRUIT U GOT SO MUCH FLAW
Grapefruit is an OC. You actually reinforce this by talking about yourself in the third person in your description, and adding that “And I am not gonna get attacked by Pipp again.”:
I dunno, I just figured I could do Grapefruit Face a favor by making this. Hate it all you want, just keep in mind that this is an homage to him.
So, BP #DBC9 is … what … saying that about an OC, right? Pipp can’t attack you, the person. They can only attack your OC - the cartoon character you insert into your art and edits.
There is no indication that they didn’t like the image, or had any problem with it. And, while I didn’t have anything to do with looking at this image or your reports, the comment seems to be ‘playing along’ with whatever the pretend fight is that your OC and Pipp were having that this image seems to be a part of.
But, again - this is why you role playing outside of the RP forums is a problem. It significantly blurs the lines between what is being said and done by you, and by your pretend self. And what people are saying about your OC, and what they are saying about you.
If the moderators choose to censor me defending my favorite ponies
Whether you believe you were standing up for your pretend girlfriend or not, you were attacking other users of the site, and that’s never going to be ok.
Derpibooru needs to stop picking sides as it’s creating a toxic and frustrating environment.
We will always ‘pick the side’ of treating real people like real people, and treating pretend relationships and fantasies as they are; pretend relationships and fantasies.
TLDR; Non-constructive bullying of fictional characters should fall under Rule #0 since it’s hurtful, Rule #4 since they can hide the character tag and also a violation of Rule #6 since they can start flame wars.
TLDR: Comments on fan art should be constructive and on topic, or, at least civil and in keeping with the theme of the image. Comments that aren’t constructive and on topic will be reviewed if they are reported or otherwise noticed.
Rule #0 is about respect for people, not cartoons, and discussing things civilly on this site.
But, that’s just my take on it.
Like I said, I didn’t look at or work on some of the reports you’re complaining about. But hopefully by looking at the notes and what happened afterwards I have represented what happened fairly.
If you want to dispute the ‘fairness’ of any of your bans, and are ok doing so here publicly, feel free to name a ban. Your latest ban I think would be more convenient for me, since I already have those notes up.
