To be fair, I’m pretty sure Russia is on an anti-communist backswing nowadays. Haven’t looked into it because Russia just isn’t that important to me.

Someone made a thread with an very elaborate OP and quotes and links to moderator posts of the past and it got deleted.  
His conclusion was that while it is very ironic how the censors get censored, its still worth it to defend derpibooru because while all the drawings can get copied to the altboorus, the forum, comments and history can’t.
 
Well, i guess the 30min to one hour that you spent to research that and to link to all those old posts from a timeframe of multiple years are wasted now and won’t be part of the history and nobody will know that you even wrote it.

Only history is applicable. Forum and comments are contained with the nightly dump, nobody just for whatever reason bothered creating a complete mirror of Derpi (as opposed to just the images) yet.

It was me… I don’t know why as it was quoting stuff that I had quoted before. No rule 8 just the mods own words. I was explaining why one would distrust them but I still wanted to have a higher discourse and try to defend the site.

Well this has been a rather unexpected turn of events. Derpibooru is facing a crisis and maybe in a vulnerable state due to this. There is a risk of other outside forces making attacks upon Derpi. Regardless of your feelings of this administration this is still the forces of censorship at work. The same societal rigidity that has been rearing its ugly head and now Derpi itself has the gun aimed at her. But what fight can be made?
 
Should there even be one? The Derpibooru administration has lost plenty of people’s trust and how can I blame them?

I will contain my laughter and state plainly there is nothing that fascists cannot corrupt and trying to stomp out everything they’re using will just make it harder to spot them; they are trying to make the okay sign (AKA finger circle) into one of their symbols.  
It’s much more effective to get them come out into the light and then stomp on their open racism when they dare show it.

We’re not going to go deleting existing images or anything like that. Like TSP said, it’s been about a half dozen images, most of which are edits. I imagine a lot of staff would resign if we suddenly decided to start deleting a large quantity of images. I probably would as well if the site ever started heading down that path.
 
Instead, this policy change is simply “if there’s already drama and controversy happening, don’t upload more art to further fuel said drama and controversy”.
 
 
There was fear from some that this would be used to justify way more but they assured us and said that this wouldn’t affect that many images and they weren’t going to mass delete images or anything.  
Oh, and they also said
 
If we treated all groups equally, we wouldn’t allow any LGBTQ images on the site, because it offends and triggers a group of our members. There would be no images showing lesbian couples, because it offends and triggers a group of our members. There would be no images showing straight couples, because it offends and triggers a group of our members. There would be no images showing Twilight as an Alicorn, because it offends and triggers a group of our members. There would be no images with Aryanne in them, because it offends and triggers a group of our members.
 
In my personal opinion, you’re taking this to some insane level of end game that is purely speculative and unwarranted.
 
 
This calmed most people down and though there was distrust with some not that many people with the way they defined it not many people would die on a hill of Zebra riot pictures. Though their was still just enough shady actions to keep people questioning. Like the whole downvote autofilters, but it wasn’t a storm.  
Then the administration said that any Nazi imagery was singled out due to it having a unique essence that made it especially bad
 
I am having trouble understanding why people are having trouble understanding this.
 
Communism is a socioeconomic theory that has been applied in one way or another throughout time but in itself does not call for the slaughter of people based on their genetics or sexual orientation. Nazism is a concrete ideology with racism and genocidal extermination as a core tenant.
 
For better or worse, most communist symbology is related only to the economic principals and does not imply “kill these people for their inherent traits”. That does not apply to nazi symbology.
 
If there are images related to communism, or any other ideology be it christianity, judaism, budhism, anarchism, etc., that promote genocide, mass murder, racism, or other such things, report them so we can be made aware of them.
 
Nazism is singled out because these negative traits are an elemental part of what it is. And unfortunately(?), the images relating to it are significantly more numerous than those related to other hateful ideologies; if pro-ISIS/Jihad images were a tenth as popular, then we’d also single them out my name. Fortunately, that’s not the case.
 
 
They didn’t even fully justify it under the standard they set up of freezing things due to controversy. Nope, it was just, you know, all this images we defended even a month ago? Yeah, they were evil that whole time and we had been planning to work our way up to it. Naturally this fermented distrust and the dismissive response plus censorship of comments didn’t help. Then y’all walked it back and then went full slippery slope for a brief moment, even the communist that were defended just a few days ago were on the table
 
 
We want to be clear – hateful content is not welcome on Derpibooru. We will be tightening our rules and will not be allowing any form of harmful ideology. This includes not only content promoting Nazism, Stalinism, Communism, etc but also content promoting racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, or anything else involving hate speech.
 
 
So, when I say I distrust the staff, I really do mean it. I was one of the ones that was trying to be more open to building bridges and I saw all this fire. All this cloak and danger stuff behind the scenes. I think that there could’ve have been a conversation on certain things that slip through that should be prohibited or stronger protections for users (like a user blocking system). I want everyone to truly feel at peace and safe here, okay? But at this point I have no idea what is even the moral framework I am dealing with to even negotiate or understand. Trust is gone and won’t be easily earned back.
 
And now we find that Derpibooru is staring down the same gun that they pointed at us. What I am to do, laugh? Sure, I can find some humor in the irony of it but ultimately I am against this. Why? It is still a censorious action from an external force. A lot of people call Derpibooru a home and I want to defend them. I want to defend the history here; not just the images backed up elsewhere but the comments and threads that may not be. Remember, no group is a monolith and to be respectful (though this certainly doesn’t mean harsh criticism is not warranted at times). Even showing kindness to folks of the opposing side can be worth it and I especially ask for respect to be shown to fence sitters and those users who just want to grill for they shouldn’t be left for the wolves either. So while I may have little faith in the administration the users and history is still something worth defending.
 
I’ve done this before with no problem even when stuff around was getting deleted, mine wasn’t
 
So I am at a loss.
