Patreon is an anti-freespeech cesspool, and it is funny to see Derpi get hit by the same puritanical nonsense they just so happily rewrote the rules for.
 
And NOW all of a sudden there is nuance, when the tables turned.

Hmmm “misguided moral crusades”. How familiar that sounds right now. Probably wasn’t the best time for big rule changes that painted a target on derpi’s back. I know patreon was headed that way no matter what, but now I hope that the staff and people who would call themselves anti-nazi see exactly how this kind of stuff goes right downhill. Moral busybodies will be the death of our natural right to free expression.

Hm, sites censoring content that’s not on their platform based on outside pressure from people with self-gratifying agendas?  
Now where have I heard that before.

I’m sure derpi and furbooru staff, especialy tsp, have have had the irony of a shady group of higher ups deciding to shove an extremely opaque system of morals and regulations down their throats rubbed in their face ad nauseum the past few hours so I’ll skip that part.
 
Abandon patreon. The policies they’ve been implementing the past few months have been nothing short of oppressive to artists. The over regulation, policing of what artists do OUTSIDE of patreon related stuff, increased fees. Of course, as a private site, they have the right to do all of this. It doesn’t mean the have to though. Patreon’s new policies have become abusive to artists who need the income from exposure for their art. Its the tumblr porn purge all over again except, some people need patreon to make a living.

If you mean doomed to follow Patreon’s ToS, I hope not. If you mean doomed as in half of all podcasts go away in the hopeful event that Patreon collapses, it would be a very sad day for all their fans and a moderately happy day for anyone farming Reddit karma in /r/internetdrama or /r/drama.

Years actually. They’ve been rolling out increasingly user unfriendly policies for a while. This new one is just a bigger jump in creator contempt than we’ve seen before. I mean, policing what creators do offsite is a new level of nonsense.

As bad as Patreon has been, I’m also very concerned about SubscribeStar for these 2 reasons  
1.Its based in Russia, A country with a poor track record on human rights and could spy on us (Like China does)  
2.The Alt-Right is on the site and considering the recent drama about this site and Nazis, That could only escalate things with the media.
